I Got The Feeling'
Gregory Abbott Lyrics

I thought you were my girl
Then you came and rocked my world, well, well
Our love was right on time
Now you've gone and blown my mind, yeah

I got the feelin' it's over
The funny feelin' that it's over
I got the feelin' it's over
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin']
The funny feelin' that it's over now

I thought we had
Such a love affair, baby
Was I so wrong
Is it over now, over now

Ooh, I'd like to know
What you feel for me, sugar
Is it really real
Or is it just a lie, yeah

I'd like to know, baby [I'd like to know]
Is there a chance for us
Or is this the end, baby [Is this the end]
Of our romance

Got the feelin' it's, got the feelin' it's over
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin'] (Some times I can't go on, no)
The funny feelin' that it's over now (Hey)
Got the feelin' it's over
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin'] (Some times I can't go on, no)
The funny feelin' that it's over now (Hey)

I thought we had
Such a love affair, baby
Was I so wrong
Is it over now, over now

Tell me is there a chance for us
Or is this the end

I got the feelin' it's
The funny feelin' that it's over

I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin'
It's over now
I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin'
It's over now

I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin'
Hey

I thought you were my girl
Then you came and rocked my world, well, well
Our love was right on time
Now you've gone and blown my mind, yeah, hey

Woo ooh
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey
Mmm oh ah ah
Ooh

The funny feelin' that it's over

I got the feelin' it's over (I thought you were my girl)
(Then you came and rocked my world)
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin']
The funny feelin' that it's over now (Well, well)
I got the feelin' it's over (Our love was right on time)
(Now you've gone and blown my mind)
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin']
The funny feelin' that it's over now (Yeah, hey)

I got the feelin' it's over
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin'] (Oh, darlin')
The funny feelin' that it's over now
I got the feelin' it's over (Oh, sugar, oh, honey)
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin']
The funny feelin' that it's over now

I got the feelin' it's over (Woo)
[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin']
The funny feelin' that it's over now (Hey, hey, hey, hey)
I got the feelin' it's over

[I got the feelin', really, really got the feelin']
It's over now

Overall Meaning

The song "I Got The Feelin'" by Gregory Abbott is a ballad that explores the emotions of a man who thought he had found true love, only to have everything fall apart right before his eyes. Initially, he believed that he had found the right person for him, but over time, he starts feeling that something is wrong. He's got a funny feeling that the relationship is over, and he's confused about what he should do next. The lyrics touch on the subject of trust, and the singer wonders if he can believe what his partner says, or if it's all just a lie. He's not sure if they have a future together, and he's left feeling uncertain and vulnerable.

The verses repeat the same phrase twice, and the chorus contains the central message of the song. The chorus expresses the singer's feelings of uncertainty and confusion, as he tries to come to terms with the reality of the situation. The refrain "I got the feeling it's over" underscores the emotional weight of the song, and Abbott's soulful voice adds depth and poignancy to the lyrics.

In summary, "I Got The Feelin'" is a powerful song about the difficulties of love and the heartache that can arise when things don't go according to plan.

This guy was so underrated. Shake you down was arguably the best 80’s soul song ever!

EDWARD RAMOS

Yeah i listened to him in the late 80s. He was all happy and smiling in 'shake you down 'but shit got real and she left his ass and 'i got the feeling that its over' was created! My brother and i would watch the videos back to back and laugh our asses off. Wasnt too funny when it happened to one if us. We were singing right along with him. Those were the days then fentanyl came years later and snatched my brother out of this world! Thanks for the memories! Good song from that time which i relate to now Howard Hewitt 'goodbye good friend'.
