Spring
Griffin Village Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I saw you kicking apple trees, I wondered why
The apples fell, but not the leaves
I came to you, my voice was soft. You asked: "Is there something wrong?"
"Yes" I said, but "no" I thought

Hold you close to me
The apple of my eye
Just give me a chance
And together we will lie
Underneath the trees
Wind blowing overhead
Knowing how we feel
So nothing more is said

You saw me looking at the sky, you asked me how
How it felt, to really fly
I'd take you there, up off the ground, but I like it here
"Here" has you, and you I've found.

Hold you close to me
The apple of my eye
Just give me a chance
And together we will lie
Underneath the trees
Wind blowing overhead
Knowing how we feel
So nothing more is said
Knowing how we feel
So nothing more is said

I came to you, my voice was soft. You asked: "Is there something wrong?"
"No" I said, and "no" I thought

You asked me if I feel alone, on the ground
If I have you, I'm right at home

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Spring" by Griffin Village portray a conversation between two people who are falling in love. The first verse sets the scene with the singer watching their love interest kicking apple trees and wondering why the leaves do not fall. The singer then approaches them and admits that something is wrong but retracts their statement, hinting at the intensity of the emotions building within them. The second verse continues the conversation, with the love interest questioning the singer on how it feels to fly. The singer responds that they prefer to be on the ground as long as they have their love interest with them. The last stanza wraps up the conversation with the love interest asking if the singer ever feels alone, to which the singer replies they do not when they are with them.

Overall, the lyrics seem to highlight the importance of companionship and support as critical components of love. The singer's preference for being on the ground rather than in the air represents their desire to be grounded and secured in the love they share with their partner. Furthermore, the repetition of the phrase, "Hold you close to me, the apple of my eye," further stresses the relationship's importance and the sense of comfort it brings.

Tomb and Tsyolin both have remixed tracks on the EP. Tarby helped with some lyric writing for Spring!

I haven’t heard this song when My Little Pony was in It’s prime, but even right now it just reaches out to me and displays an ensemble of affects on me. Reminiscing every memory possible like my childhood, teenage years, up until now.

My god, 7 years later.. I never even heard this song or any of the series of songs for that matter.. just stumbled across this.. and I'm overwhelmed with emotion.. God this is a bittersweet song.. Incredible job..

I think the pegasus is in a learning path for love. After feeling the sweetness of love with Lyra and Bonbon, with Derpy he learns how to be affectionate, and he comforts Gilda when she's sad and lonely. After passing all those tests, he finally stumbles upon his one true love: Big Mac. So it's kind of an initiation path to love. But that's how I interpret it, so I'd love it if JackleApp said more about the story :D

Crunch The Destroyer

No matter how many times I listen to this song, I will always tear up a bit. Its beautiful, melodic, lethargic and just makes me want to sit and reminisce. Its so touching. Thank you for making this, and thanks to Tarby for helping. Thanks to anyone involved. Thanks for giving me a timeless, touching song I will always love. And sorry for being lame :P

Even after all this time, I still get the vibes of romance

I just wanted to say that this song is really nostalgic to me now. I remember being kinda into MLP because of the music, and this is the only song I come back to, because the song is so sweet. The vocals really reflect that gentility, and I hope the people involved, if they're still kicking, are well.
