Night of the Vampire
Grim Reaper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you think you're safe at midnight,
That's the last thing you could do,
He'll be looking for that nighttime bite,
He could be coming after you

See the full moon rising high up in the sky,
The mist surrounds you and you know you're gonna die
Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life,

Night of the vampire
Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life,

Night of the vampire

Look away from his hypnotic eyes,
Or he will put you in a spell
No one hears your last pathetic cries,
Now you live eternal hell

See the full moon rising high up in the sky,
The mist surrounds you and you know you're gonna die

Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life,

Night of the vampire
Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life,

Night of the vampire

Beware, beware

See the full moon rising high up in the sky,
The mist surrounds you and you know you're gonna die

Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life,

Night of the vampire
Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life,

Night of the vampire

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Grim Reaper's song "Night of the Vampire" are about a creature of the night, the vampire, who goes on the hunt for human prey. The song paints a vivid picture of the terror that people experience when they encounter a vampire. The opening lines, "If you think you're safe at midnight, that's the last thing you could do," suggest that the vampire is most active at night and that people should be on guard.

The lyrics go on to describe the vampire's power over people with its hypnotic eyes and ability to put its prey under a spell. The vampire is depicted as a ruthless predator, with its victims dying a horrible death and being trapped in eternal hell. The chorus, "Night of the vampire, he's only looking for your life," reinforces the idea that the monster is focused solely on taking human life.

The song successfully captures the fear and terror associated with vampire folklore. The lyrics make listeners feel as though they too are being hunted by the creature of the night. As the song builds to a climax, a feeling of urgency and danger is reinforced by the repeating chorus.

Steve Grimmett hits those notes like no other. One of a handful of heavy metal vocals that is truly awe inspiring 🤘🏻

@kazkylheku1221

If Dan Hill and R. J. Dio had a baby, it would have vocals like this.

@Kaz Kylheku or if axl rose had a wank and came in a turkey baster then someone used it to inseminate a genetically modified ape and the ape made more ape babies that eventually evolved into humans and one of those humans gave birth to a guy who eventually started singing in a old school metal band

Takes me back. This, Helloween, Warlock, Dio, Ozzy, Ratt among many others. Cruising the drag, with 450 watts of Rockford Fosgate. That was a big system at the time. It was the 3rd biggest in my town back then. Stuff wasn't cheap then either, especially the custom fabrication I had. I remember those days of greatness.
