Grimes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
She'll end her faith in love
And I know the way
I know the way
I know the way
I can believe in me
She's giving up the cross
And I know the way
I know the way
I know the way
I can't believe you're home
In Grimes's song Know the Way, the lyrics describe a woman's decision to give up on her faith in love. The first line "She's giving up the cross" refers to the religious symbol of a cross, which symbolizes faith and hope. By giving up the cross, the woman is giving up on her faith and hope in love. The second line "She'll end her faith in love" reinforces this idea that the woman has lost faith in love.
The chorus repeats the line "And I know the way" three times, drawing attention to the singer's confidence in their own ability to believe in themselves. The last line "I can't believe you're home" could be interpreted in a couple of different ways, depending on the context of the song. It could be interpreted as the singer feeling surprised that someone they love has returned home, or it could be interpreted as the singer feeling disbelief about their own ability to find love and happiness.
Overall, the lyrics suggest a sense of disillusionment with the idea of love and a need for self-belief and self-reliance. The repetition of the phrase "I know the way" reinforces the idea that the singer is confident in their own ability to navigate their life independently.
