The band was formed in 1993 under the name Grip as a five-piece band featuring former Overkill bass player Bobby Gustafson on second guitar. After Gustafson and bass player Chaz Grimaldi left the band, Grip Inc hired Jason Viebrooks (Heathen) and recorded their first album, The Power Of Inner Strength. The release of the album was followed by European tour with Motörhead and, later, with Kreator. After releasing their second album in 1997, Viebrooks was replaced by Stuart Carruthers.
The release of their third album, Solidify, in 1999 was followed by a co-headlining tour with Italian band Lacuna Coil (one of the many bands produced by Sorychta). Despite Dave Lombardo's return in Slayer in 2001, Grip Inc released a fourth album in 2004.
Since then, Sorychta founded Eyes Of Eden and Enemy Of the Sun while Gus Chamber joined Squealer A.D.. On 16th August 2008, Gus Chambers joined Enemy Of The Sun on stage for an exclusive Grip Inc. oriented set In Bochum (Germany).
Unfortunately, Gus Chambers passed away on October 13, 2008 at the age of 52. Chambers, who resided in Coventry, England, reportedly took his own life.

Bad habits die hard, bad habits die hard
Tired of, tired of self
Tired of selfinfliction, selfinfliction, selfinfliction
No more leaving morals at the door
Cut out the cancer, time to settle the score
Hood-winked divine, partners in crime
[Chorus :]
Present to you the gift that shines
Two hands will deliver, two hands will deliver
Present to you the gift that shines
Reward gift that shines perfect day
impact, impact of pride
Unwanted burdens, unwanted burdens
Conflict, conflict will bring
Conflict will bring aggression, bring suppression, bring depression
No more leaving morals at the door
Cut out the cancer, time to settle the score
Hood-winked divine, partners in crime
[Chorus (1x)]
No honour amongst thieves
[Chorus (1x)]
The Gift by Grip Inc. talks about the struggle of overcoming bad habits and self-infliction, as well as the importance of maintaining one's morals and values. The repeated phrase "time heals, time heals old wounds" serves as a reminder that healing takes time and effort. The lyrics also touch on the negative effects of pride and conflict, which can lead to aggression and depression. The chorus speaks of a "gift that shines" which is being presented, perhaps referring to the gift of personal growth and self-improvement.
The line "hood-winked divine, partners in crime" could refer to a feeling of being deceived or let down by a higher power and feeling like we are alone in our struggles. The song ends with the phrase "no honor amongst thieves," which could imply that we must remain true to our own values and not fall victim to the negative influences of others.
Overall, The Gift is a powerful song about the journey of self-improvement and the importance of remaining true to oneself.
