Their most popular sound was comparable to that of Yes, but they also explored other progressive rock styles. Their sound was characterized by sometimes humorous approach to making music, exhibited in both the lyrics and in the chimeric sound of the instruments.
The band made nearly fifteen albums, from general hard rock album to concept albums. Their vocals are mostly in English, although some albums were released with German vocals for the home market and English vocals for export.
Merry-go-round

Human beings fading out
You're leaving town, you'll touch the sky
Guide upon ways you never tried
Over park and pale, over hill and vale
Framed by beds of violets growing around
We like this magic sound
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round
Eyes are drawn to lights and satins
We're fond of singing, we'll train the flea
It's your turn, turn the key
Live the life of clowns beyond all worldly bounds
Our sacred cart is rumbling along the clouds
We like to sing this lovely song to make you strong
We like this magic sound
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round
Sparkling agates, peacock feathers
Coloured animals, they won't escape
Lovely creatures of human shape
Magical harps and chimes, the odor of holy crimes
A giant world that makes us all bewitched
We like to sing this magic song to make you strong
We like this magic sound
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round, roll up, roll up
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round, roll up, roll up
Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round, roll up, roll up...
The song "Merry-Go-Round" by Grobschnitt seems to be about the journey of human life, the ups and downs we face and the excitement of exploring the unknown. The first verse talks about leaving town and trying new ways that we never have before, and how human beings are slowly fading out. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for how life can be fleeting, and we should take chances and make the most of our time.
The second verse talks about being drawn to lights and satins, enjoying singing and training fleas. This verse talks about the simple joys in life, and how sometimes we just need to take a break from the mundane tasks and enjoy the simple pleasures. The third verse talks about the magical world the merry-go-round creates, with sparkling agates, peacock feathers and colored animals. The song finishes with repeating the line "Roll up for the Merry-Go-Round," which is a call to action to take chances, explore and make the most of life.

I love this band. About 27 years ago in Wales I was flicking through our satellite box at 3 am drunkenly, looking for something to watch and WDR were showing the Rockpalast Solar Music gig. Have loved them ever since

Danke Ludger♡!!!
