Grobschnitt Lyrics

Und es geschah am 26. Tag des 7. Monats,

Am vierten Tag begann es zu regnen;

The sky is blue
The gras is whispering
The sun shines warm
The air is clean and soft

My mind is free
Going to where it wants to be
It's so nice to see
The flowers surrounding me

In Vietnam
My brother's shooten down
Sun burns hot
The bombers are roaring loud

His mind is dead
His blood runs warm and red
It's a shame to see
'Cos he's man like you and me

In Vietnam
My brother's shooten down
Sun burns hot
The bombers are roaring loud

His mind is dead
His blood runs warm and red
It's a shame to see
'Cos he's man like you and me
And me, and me
And me

Au!

All of us are fighting here
Against the hate and war
But you cheering crazy crowd
You're calling out for more
'Bout the real reality
You dislike it to hear
Fucking haughty lazy mass
You're sipping at your beer

But listen
Some day you will awake
And there will be nothing left
From what today you take
And than you'll understand
What we have tried to say
But then there's no help around
'Cos we are far away

Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Grobschnitt's song "Suntrip" are divided into two distinct parts. The first part is a retelling of a biblical story where God speaks to Moses telling him to gather his followers on the third day at the Oilberg so that God may reveal himself to them. The followers gathered, but God did not appear, and they waited for years with unwavering faith despite the harsh weather conditions until the present day. The second part of the song is discussing the atrocities of the Vietnam War and how it affects individuals and society as a whole. The song ends on a charismatic note of criticizing those who refuse to see the realities of war and that someday they will understand when it's too late.

In the first part of the lyrics, Grobschnitt seems to be questioning the unwavering faith of the followers who waited so long for God. It's also possible that they are contrasting the blind faith of religion with the harsh realities of war. The second part of the lyrics discusses how the Vietnam War is affecting individuals like the singer's brother and the society as a whole. The lyrics offer an insightful critique of society that revels in war without acknowledging its effects until it's too late. The last few lines sound like a call to action, asking people to stop cheering on war and to try to understand the true horrors of war before it's too late.
