Silent Night
Gruber Lyrics
Jump to: Line by Line Meaning ↴
cll is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing clleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Silent night, holy night!
The night is peaceful and sacred!
cll is calm, all is bright.
Everything is tranquil and filled with light.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
The Virgin Mary and her child are surrounded.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
The baby Jesus is gentle and meek.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Rest in divine serenity.
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep peacefully in heaven's embrace.
Silent night, holy night!
The night is still and holy!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
The shepherds tremble in awe.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Glory unfolds from distant heaven.
Heavenly hosts sing clleluia,
Angelic hosts sing hallelujah.
Christ the Savior is born!
Jesus, the Savior, is born!
Christ the Savior is born
Jesus, the Savior, has entered the world.
Silent night, holy night!
The night is calm and sacred!
Son of God love's pure light.
The Son of God is a source of pure love and illumination.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
Brilliant rays emanate from your divine countenance.
With dawn of redeeming grace,
As the dawn breaks, redemption's grace arrives.
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, the Lord, is present at your birth.
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, the Lord, is with you during your birth.

Hey, I see you're using the same sheet as mine. The last two bars are marked differently than the rest, and both end with a double bold bar. Why is that?
Piano Demo
Hey there, this is how they work: after playing the bar under bracket 1, we repeat from the beginning but then this time we skip the bar under bracket 1 and goes to bracket 2.
So the difference between those 2 bars is that the bar under bracket 1 is the first ending of the section, it leads back to the beginning, hence it sounds unfinished. The bar under bracket 2 is the second ending, sounds fully finished.
Hope that helps! :)
