Gry Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I know I'm frozen cold
Hello hello
I know I've self defenced
Ice ice grown flowers
So silent white so quite still
Hello hello
Are you still there?
Ice ice grown flowers
So silent white so quiet still
Sun red salamander
Sun red salamander
Farvel
In Gry's song Postcard, the lyrics appear to convey a sense of isolation and withdrawal from the world around the singer. The lyrics "Hello hello, I know I'm frozen cold," seem to suggest a sense of numbness and detachment from feelings and emotions. The singer acknowledges that she has self-defended, indicating that she has put up walls to protect herself from hurt or disappointment. The lines "Ice ice grown flowers, so silent white so quite still" evoke an image of stillness and frozen beauty, possibly representing the singer's own state of mind or surroundings.
As the song progresses, the singer asks if someone is still there, indicating a desire for connection and for someone to break through the ice around her. The repetition of the phrase "Ice ice grown flowers, so silent white so quiet still" reinforces the idea of a frozen, static, unchanging state of being. The inclusion of the phrase "Sun red salamander" adds a burst of color and warmth to the otherwise cold and still landscape of the song. The final word, "Farvel," is Danish for "goodbye" and could be interpreted as a final resignation to the singer's isolation and detachment.
