Although Gryffin has recently been on the cusp of a major breakthrough, he began his musical journey growing up as a classically trained pianist, before expanding his sonic palette with guitar at an early age. He played in bands to initially hone his instrumental abilities, until he dove head first into the world of music production at the University of Southern California. Throughout college and beyond, Gryffin further refined his skills that have blossomed into his artistic mastery that is appreciated by his counterparts and adoring fans around the world. In his genre, artists typically DJ to showcase their talents, but live performance is where his heart lies in capturing the essence of his work.
With a world-debut at this past SnowGlobe Music Festival, Gryffin unveiled his anticipated live performance to finally connect with those who have been behind his impressive play counts. His passion and love for musicianship, and artistry within music shined through as he performed with live instrumentation (guitar, keyboard, synths, & drum pads) in a continuous dance music format to keep up the energy characteristic of DJ sets. Since this performance was a resounding success, the excitement is brewing for his next two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ The Roxy, and New York’s Bowery Ballroom to close out his first-ever live tour.
Following the conclusion of the tour, Gryffin made the leap to his first original production, “Heading Home” featuring Josef Salvat, which immediately became #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart, US Viral Chart, and accumulated a million plays in one week after being released via Darkroom/Interscope Records. It’s already looking like 2016 is going to be Gryffin’s biggest year yet.
Love In Ruins

Now I'm learning
Three is more than two
You are the one I see
You are a half of me
As much as we bare our souls, we're animals
I'm aching to see my boy lose control
And bury this six feet in the grave
But I wanna know the hurt that hits
When you kiss her lips
So why don't we play a game?
I know that we could leave our love in ruins
Or maybe we should both be unafraid
I wanna see you bend the rules
Me and you
(Stop hiding yourself away)
I know that we could leave our love in ruins
And bury this six feet in the grave
But I wanna know the hurt that hits
When you kiss her lips
So why don't we play a game?
Show me how she moves
All this time and
We're too strong to lose
And I promise you
You are the one I see
You are a half of me
As much as we share our souls, we're animals
I'm aching to see my boy lose control
I know we might refuse
Honey, your love
Life is a breeze
I know that we could leave our love in ruins
And bury this six feet (six feet)
I know that we could leave our love in ruins
And bury this six feet in the grave
I wanna know the hurt that hits
When you kiss her lips
So why don't we play a game?
I know that we could leave our love in ruins
Or maybe we should both be unafraid
I wanna see you bend the rules
Me and you
(Stop hiding yourself away)
(So why don't we play a game?)
(Hiding yourself away)
I know that we could leave our love in ruins
And bury this six feet in the grave
I wanna know the hurt that hits
When you kiss her lips
So why don't we play a game?
The lyrics of the song Love In Ruins by Gryffin are about the risks and consequences of a relationship that involves infidelity. The first verse sets the tone for the song's perspective by acknowledging that "as much as we bare our souls, we're animals" and that the singer longs to see their lover "lose control." While the singer admits that their actions could lead to the "love in ruins" and being "buried six feet in the grave," they still want to play the game of cheating and experience the hurt and jealousy that comes with it. The chorus repeats the theme of wanting to experience the pain of seeing their lover with someone else, while also suggesting that perhaps they should be unafraid of the consequences and bend the rules.
The second verse shows the singer's conviction that their love is strong and that they are "too strong to lose," while still acknowledging that they may "refuse" to accept the risks of their actions. The bridge repeats the chorus and adds an additional line about not hiding oneself away. The overall message of the song seems to be a mix of longing, risk-taking, curiosity, and an acceptance of the potential consequences of one's actions.
