con hilo blanco
con la carrucha
en tu regazo.
Coseme el flanco
la herida aguda
la negra llaga
Con una aguja
con hilo blanco
con la carrucha
en tu regazo.
Coseme el flanco la herida aguda
la negra llaga
de mi costado,
mi desventura ah
Tu sola bruja con tus puntadas
lentas y largas
de habil sutura
ciegala, ciegala-ciegala, ciegala ah ah ah 2x
Con una aguja...
Tu sola bruja...
Muda
boca
cerrada por amor
nunca.
The lyrics of the song "Smaragdos Margara" by Guardabarranco are a representation of the pain and suffering that the singer is experiencing due to an injury on his side. The song opens with the description of the tools that are being used to treat the wound, a needle, white thread, and a spool, and the singer then implores the individual caring for him to sew up the injury as it is causing him great distress. The repeated use of the phrase "Con una aguja, con hilo blanco" gives the song a sense of desperation and urgency as if the singer's life depended on it.
The next stanza is a repetition of the previous, but with more emphasis and a change in wording. The addition of "mi desventura ah" at the end of the verse adds further intensity to the song, highlighting the direness of the situation. The use of language in the song is evocative, with words such as "negra llaga" and "herida aguda" creating vivid imagery of the pain being suffered.
The third and final stanza of the song takes an unexpected turn, with the singer addressing the caregiver as a "bruja" or witch. However, this is not meant in a derogatory way, but instead as a compliment to the skill and precision needed to perform the suturing process. The last line of the song, "Muda boca cerrada por amor nunca," adds to the overall feeling of despair and hopelessness, implying that the singer's injury was caused by his inability to express his emotions.
Overall, the song is a powerful and emotive representation of the agony of physical and emotional pain, and the longing for someone to help heal them.
