Well... i am not new to the game but i probably dont know anything about it. :D
Ich started GW2 at launch and deinstalled it 1 week later.
Then i reinstalled it sometimes and after some days i deinstalled it again.
I just want to enjoy this game but somehow i cant.
The event instead of quest-mechanik and the heart stuff got me bored every time up to a point where i just dont wanna play the game anymore. :(
And so i never reached the 4th zone because when i am so glad that i just finished the (in my opinion) shittie heart mechanic in zone 2 and got to the 3rd zone and see that i have to do the same shit again and again every time then i stoped playing again.

Am i doing something completely wrong? Or is this game just not for me?
At this moment i am installing it again (after a probably 2 year pause) to try it again but i am curious if theres anything i am missing.

Oh and sorry for the bad english.
Bad and laughable excuse: Its not my national language.

I made the 80 boost mistake on my first account when I returned to the game recently. I then started a new account and bought the expansions again (retail this time). This time I used them on the wrong account, so I made a ticket and I ended up getting new codes for the account I wanted them on. At this time I was focusing on one character and loving it. I was leveling a 48 thief.

Now I have a Necro, Mesmer, Engineer all between 10-19.

I now sort of burned myself out, not to the point where I wanna quit, but to the point where I want to make another account and this time stick to free to play style.

I know it seems like a waste, but I've done it before in the past, what I mean is, when I started playing the game back then before the hot expansion, I started a new account as f2p and hit 80 on a thief.

I'm loving the mesmer so far, but I wish I didn't create other character and stayed with my thief (asura).

Anyways, time to give it another try 3rd times the charm ... maybe.

My goals this time for my f2p account, besides focusing on one character and hitting 80 which I've done before.

Goal 1: One Character
Goal 2: 1-80
Goal 3: PvX (Not Just PVE) I've always done PvE only.
Goal 4: Don't Spend Any $, On Gems ETC
Goal 5: Have Fun

any tips on how I can reach my goal, even if I do reach all my goals I will still sort of play my main account since I can use it for extra farming.

Also any class suggestions, that will be good for general things, PvE, ETC.

I was thinking of the following.

Engineer
Ranger
Thief (Again)
Guardian
Necromancer (Sort of Like Having Minions)
Elementist

Also any race suggestions besides, Asura.

For those who are interested in the numbers: if you only do personal stories up to (and including) level 60 and doing map completion all the time (without any xp boosters active) you reach level 80 in about 45 and a half hours.

Hey, I haven't watched all your videos yet... but I am just a tad worried about stuff to do in GW2... there is more than just completing maps, right? Everyone says there is so much to do in this game, but I fear that they are only referring to unlocking cosmetic outfits and stuff like that. Do people actually run dungeons? Are those people super hard-core raiders who won't like a slightly serious, slightly casual guy like me? I play ESO and there seems to be so much more actual content. I really want to like GW2, and I am enjoying map completion at the moment, but I know I'll need more to invest in this game long term.

There is a lot more than just exploring maps! Dungeons are not too well populated. About a year ago, the game's developers changed them and now people don't really play them anymore. There are hardcore raiders but most of the time you won't really encounter them. I'm actually casually playing as well right now. You can make it as hardcore as you like! ;)

I am new. I came over from WoW. I feel like GW2 is like how WoW Vanilla was. It takes a lot of time to get somewhere. Especially farming, growing a crafting skill, and pretty much everything else. I am still learning a ton. But have played for like a month. I will say, that I try to match up any Power weapon skills with Power off-hand skills.. and Condition damage(Bleeds, burns, torment, and whatever else) main hand skills, with condition off-hand skills. I did use my Lev 80 boosts. I think I can figure out the class rather fast. But my setback now lies in where to go now. I think first of all, I am working on my Heart of Thorns questline, so you can utilize the HoT boost mushrooms, glider, updraft things. This takes some time as well. Lots of events is what I am finding out. I don't know how to gain rep other than that right now. The Path of Fire questline gives you a mount, and mount abilities. Both HoT and PoF abilities you'll need to get more mastery points, and Hero Points for your elite skills for your Character Class. Good luck, hopefully this helped.

But it's a very good video - I think you got the most important information for new players summed up pretty well!
And I need to stress the Lvl 80 boost tip for any new players out there: never - NEVER - use it on your first character. My bf and his brother both did this even though I told them not to and then they quit the game a few days later ... his brother because he always died and my bf because "there [was] nothing to do" ... -.-

It's true that Guild Wars 2 had Dynamic Events before Warcraft, however Dynamic events are more detailed versions of "Public Quests" from Warhammer Online...so they did them first. We need to show the love guys :)

Today I decided to get back into GW2. I played at launch, and stuck around until Fractals and the Super Adventure Box were a thing. I loved the game but eventually I just stopped playing, around the time the expansions were announced. I can't get access to my old account for reasons, but I'm looking forward to experiencing the whole base game again along with the new expansions. Your videos have been really informative and I'll probably visit your channel whenever I need any of the new content explained to me :).

Sadly not. At least note any time soon lol. I think my old account, or at least the email address I used for that GW2 account, has two factor authentication on and tied to an old phone of mine. I don't even have my old serial code for my copy of the base game. I think I tried to go through account recover a few years ago and it just didn't lead to anything.

I don't really mind though, I only had one max level character before and mainly had exotic gear on him. I'll catch up to where I was in no time with the level 80 boost from the Path of Fire expansion.

So I saved up 10 tomes of knowledge and naturally leveled to 70, then I used the tomes to 80. I then used the boost at lvl 80 which gave me a full set of exotic gear, 15 slot bags, some gold, ect.

This was a great experience, as by the time I hit 70, I had a very good idea how to use my class, and because I saved my booster, I hit 80 and had a full set of gear ready to go!

Fractals here I come!

Been playing the game for 2 months now, atleast a month at level 80. Whilst watching your video I saw you clicking on your specialisation bars, which changed the optional passives of the specs. I had NO idea you could do this, I thought all the passives shown were provided by choosing a spec (they are all highlighted if you don't choose anything!). I'm pretty sure the game never mentions it outside of simply choosing your specialisations. Thank you so much for showing this random minor detail that everyone else probably knew but I was completely oblivious about. I think if you don't choose these passives you don't even get any passives past the first listed skill so it's probably really important for a proper end game character build.

Just came back to the game. Used level 80 boost to get mount then went right back to my level 30 character to grind and learn everything. Enjoying the game so much more with a mount and I can reach areas I couldn't before.

I made a new character a year ago with gw2 and the HoT expansion but got into the game again recently this month and have been putting about 5 hours into the days I get to play (Im on week 3 now balancing work/school in between and im at lv45 with a second character norn necro) I used my lv 80 boost for the lv10 char I had a year ago, just so I could utilize the mount and glider features from PoF I bought a week ago to help me in my travels and map completion/stories. I'm putting off from using the lv80 boost I got from pof to learn more about the mechanics and enjoy the contents to the fullest with the game

Agreed on the "no level 80 boost" advice but not sure about the guild advice, at least early on: getting into a good guild feels similar to the level 80 boost since it may discard a significant part of discovering how the game works, what's good and what's not.

I had a lot of fun studying the stuff that the game threw at me by myself, including gear stats, runes and sigils — and it was my first MMO; receiving advices like "get all zerk gear from CoF p1 and a build from metabattle" would've significantly decreased the fun time I spent exploring the actual game and made it artificially shallow, and receiving gold/materials would've broken the excitement of early crafting when every silver mattered and felt satisfying.

But overall, I agree that going guildless early on is not a universal advice and people have different gamestyles, including those that will have them give up too early. Still, I feel that many people nowadays have to be forced to have fun — because otherwise they'll go the natural path of least resistance and end up lost or blaming the game for underdelivering.

I see what you're trying to get at! Great advice and thank you for your comment. Thing is, some people have a lot of questions about the game and there are always guilds looking for new players. Usually Guilds don't mind helping new(er) players so that's why I included it!

I'd disagree on the no level 80 boost, I'd say level up to 20 and do the first 2 story chapters to get the hang of the game, then get to 80, if you have path of fire do the first mission to get the raptor and continue the story as if you didn't get to level 80.
But do that only if you already played at least one mmo to endgame, have friends that are already at endgame you wanna play with and you don't like the discovery and leveling part

Because of level downscaling, you'll never be facerolling the content, though it'll still be easier than underleveled, and you can start to level the masteries, so you aren't loosing exp anyway.

In my case, I've been playing neverwinter and tera for a long time, and I wanted to play GW2 with friends, so I took the 80 pass and set to get better by finishing the story then doing fractals.

Awesome! I think Guild Wars 2 is a good MMO to start on. It's free to play but if you want challanging end-game content, you can pick up an expansion ;)

What I did was use my lvl 80 boost, get the raptor mount and then I didnt touch that lvl 80 character again before i got to lvl 80 by lvling myself. I just appreciate the extra speed it adds, and I tend to burn out if i feel like its too slow

Use the level 80 boost to make a ranger. Do the starting PoF story to get the raptor mount. Then make a new toon and start doing hearts, map complete, and personal story.

Doing the first mission of both expansions on one character is plenty helpful. Just having a mount makes walking around the world much cheaper since it's lest tempting to waypoint everywhere

Hey, nice video, I'm new to GW2 and got some useful info for later. But I have a question. As for now, i'm really in love with player interactions and would like to have more of them while I level, but maps do not feel very populated and most of the time I just run alone (though i like battle system and exploring the map). Are there some regular activities that attract many players? I've heard that even on low levels there are world bosses where always are many players. And will getting a guild help with this problem?

Hey Laurent! You can play with them in dungeons and raids as well. That's the thing about Guild Wars 2. You can play with your friends most of the time. That keeps the game fun for me!

when i first bought the game(+hot) i joined a guild who wanted to unlock guild hall
to be able to join them i activated my level 80 boost(to get a glider) on an elementalist
never touched that character again.

Only thing i would add to the dont use level ticket is. Use it if you got path of fire. Do the first pof quest with it. Get the first mount from it. And return to ur main character then.

We only have one set of legendary armor now. One for each armor set (Light, medium and Heavy). There have been some new Legendaries added over time, like Shooshadoo. Possibly more weapons coming soon with the new update. I would love ritualist armor yeah! Remember the teapot armor? That was amazing!

Good guide for newbies. GW2 is my first ever mmorpg gamer ever and having fun since! Quick question tho, I joined a relatively new guild with some experienced and new players. I play on a different time zone so by the time Im offline, they'll be online and vice versa. Heya! Welcome! You can join multiple guilds in Guild Wars 2. It is best to join a guild you can actually play with so you can organize events with them as well! You can still be in your current guild and chat with them in the meantime!

As a new and casual player, I've learned that doing daily achievements is really good for leveling and getting money. You only need to do any 3 easy daily achievements to get 2 gold each day. Usually one 8 minute unranked PvP match is all it takes to complete all 3. Or you can just do the open world ones which simply consist of viewing a vista at a certain area, gathering logs at a certain area, or doing 4 events at a certain area, or do a particular jumping puzzle, or defeat a certain world boss, etc.

These are really easy, gives you an incentive to explore and try out the PvP, and above all it gives you a lot of rewards plus gold. And its really good for leveling too as a casual gamer. I don't like playing for very long, those achievements take just long enough to complete that I can just leave satisfied. So far I'm leveling a bit too fast for my pace. I'm almost level 30 and I haven't completed my personal story that was unlocked at level 20 yet. lol (BTW, world bosses are so freaking cool! Look up event timers on the guild wars 2 wiki and participate in world boss events that you are leveled enough to participate. They are probably one of the coolest things I've ever experienced in a game.)

Some ADD on, most people switch a lot of professions during the start, best to save your lvl 80 booster if you know which professions you like, but you have to find that out first

Funny story about your point 2:
I was playing on my very first character (human ranger) in Queensdale when suddenly: Kill enemy, open loot a shiny CEREMONIAL weapon appears. Sold it for 1G 63 on the tradepost, and I didn't worry about gold ever since, until level 60-ish... So that was my first encounter on HEAVY loot.
(also, I bought the heroic edition for LESS than the price of the normal version, because the gamestore was being stupid...)

You nailed everything man, especially the level 80 boost item. Too many new players make this mistake and boost their very first character to 80. But you forgot to mention the 'level scaling' system in pve man. It's critical that people know that their level is adjusted to the level of the area, so anyone can level up in any map, even those that are lower than theirs. And going to higher level area than yours doesn't mean it will provide you more exp.

Me again! When I've tried playing in the past, I discovered leveling builds for each class. These would be builds to maximize speed, xp, dps, with survival. Might you know of any sites that offer great leveling builds for each profession?

Not really! Guild Wars 2 has no gear treadmill. The highest quality gear that you can get it ascended gear. You have Legendary gear but the stat change is very minor.

Do use a lvl80 boost and get a mount. Then go back to your other char and do 1-80 questing with a mount. Mount is soooooo goood and makes the gsme experience so much better.
