After sending demos to Joel Ford (Autre Ne Veut, Oneohtrix Point Never, Cyril Hahn), the two began a collaboration and recorded Gundelach's debut EP in New York alongside Al Carlson (Ariel Pink, Tim Hecker, Neil Young). The first single from the EP, "Spiders" went into heavy rotation on Norwegian radio P3 as well as grabbing #1 on Hype Machine, being played regularly on BBC1 and getting attention from Pharrell Williams on his Beats1 show. Gundelach’s intricate electronics overlaid with wispy vocals and pulsating beats, have since earned him “ones to watch in 2016” status from Spotify, TIDAL and NRK P3.

Blame it on the moonlight in the garden
Blame it on the cool night in the harbor
Blame it on a fool [?]
When you ask me, "can you get much higher?"
Deep
You know that I′m around for you
You know that I'll be down for you
I wanna go deep
Deep feeling
I′ve waited all this time for you
What else am I supposed to do?
Blame it on the moonlight in the garden
Blame it on the moonlight in the garden
Blame it on the cruel [?] of a father
Blame it on the new light in my heart
I [?] to stars do align
Leavin' all my fears behind
When you ask me, "can you get much higher?"
There's no hiding from me now
Deep
Deep feeling
You know that I′m around for you
You know that I′ll be down for you
I wanna go deep
Deep feeling
I've waited all this time for you
What else am I supposed to do?
"Lyrics is taken from genius, some parts are inaudible remained [?]"
Gundelach's song "Garden" is a reflective piece that explores the complexities of relationships and emotions. The first verse of the song suggests that everything intense and passionate that is happening can be attributed to something that is beyond control - the moonlight in the garden, the cool night in the harbor, and even the foolishness of an individual. The line "Blame it on a fool" could refer to someone who acted impulsively or naively, getting caught up in the moment and losing control of their emotions. The chorus emphasizes the depth of emotion felt by the singer, and their willingness to be present and supportive for their loved one. They want to go deep and have waited for this connection for a long time.
The second verse continues with the theme of surrendering control, attributing blame to external factors again - the cruel father, the new light in my heart, stars aligning, and leaving fears behind. The line "There's no hiding from me now" is a powerful statement, suggesting that the singer and their loved one have surpassed the stage of superficiality and are now delving into the depths of each other's emotions. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and being present for each other.
