After touring up and down the United Kingdom with the likes of Leatherface, NOFX and Wat Tyler, the band set about recording demos. This coincided with a tour of the Basque region in Spain, where copies of the demos sold like hot cakes. On their return, Sean of Wat Tyler and the man behind Rugger Bugger Records put up the modest money to record a Guns n' Wankers album, which was recorded and produced by Andy Davies in Hitchin, Herts UK. The recordings were originally released on Rugger Bugger Records as three 7" EPs: Hardcore, Pop, and Metal (A Silly EP was free with an issue of Fear & Loathing 'zine in very limited numbers). However, when NOFX’s Fat Mike showed an interest in releasing the album on legendary US punk label Fat Wreck Chords, he dispensed with all the material from Metal and one from Hardcore. The remainder was released as an eight track album called For Dancing And Listening on Fat Wreck Chords. The album was well received and continues to be highly regarded by the Punk fraternity. Unfortunately, soon after the band split due to the reformation of Snuff. Pat Walters went on to play with singer-songwriter Marc Carroll in a band called The Hormones and Joolz formed punk band Dogpiss. However, some Guns n' Wankers recordings remain un-released and plans are in the offing to correct this.
Raise Your Glass

Left myself an impossible situation
So drop the bomb and we'll drink to whose left standing
Raise your glass, join the toast
Pass the parcel 'til your bubble bursts
Set the fuse place the charge
Try your best to dodge the blast
Five died, one embarrassed survivor
Tried to raise a smile but failed
Shell shocked grimace glued to his face
Trailed off to the bar to start again
Raise your glass
Pass the parcel 'til your bubble bursts
Then pull it out rip it up tear it to shreds
Hurry on with the next
Fun to guess,
If a little complicated
The winning hand
Won't always take it your way
Place your bet, swill it down
And start again, knowing full well
You've left yourself an impossible situation
So drop the bomb and we'll drink to whose left standing
Bollocks!
Tough shit, that's all you get
Do ya want to remember or try to forget
Whatever's left's just a passing memory
You might as well just raise your glass, join the toast
Pass the parcel 'til your bubble bursts
Then pull it out rip it up tear it to shreds
Hurry on with the next
Fun to guess,
If a little complicated
The winning hand
Won't always take it your way
Place your bet, swill it down
And start again, knowing full well
You've left yourself an impossible situation
So drop the bomb and we'll drink to whose left standing
Bollocks!
I know I've done it again
Left myself an impossible situation
So drop the bomb and we'll drink to whose left standing!
The lyrics to the Guns 'n' Wankers song "Raise Your Glass" are all about facing tough situations and making the best of them. In the first verse, the singer admits to leaving themselves in an impossible situation, but instead of dwelling on it, they suggest dropping the bomb and raising a glass to whoever is left standing. This is a metaphor about accepting failure and moving on, rather than being defeated by it.
The second verse tells the story of five people who didn't make it through a situation, and one who did but was embarrassed about surviving. The chorus then repeats the call to raise a glass and keep going, even when things seem impossible. The final verse is a bit more introspective, with the singer acknowledging that life can be complicated and unpredictable, but suggesting that it's better to try and fail than to never try at all. In the end, the song is a call to keep moving forward, no matter how tough things get.
