Mama Kin
Guns N' Roses Lyrics

(This is a song about your fucking mother)

It ain't easy livin' like a gypsy
Tell ya, honey, how it feels
I've been dreamin' floatin' down stream
And losin' touch with all that's real
Whole lotta lover, keepin' undercover
Never knowin' where you been ooh yeah
You've been fadin', always out paradin'
Keep in touch with mama kin

You always got your tail on the wag
Spittin' fire from your mouth just like a dragon
You act like a perpetual drag
You better check it out 'cause someday soon
You'll have to climb back on the wagon

It ain't easy livin' like you want to
It's so hard to find piece of mind
Yes it is
The way I see it You got to say 'shee-it'
But don't forget to drop me a line

Bald as an egg at eighteen
And workin' for daddy's such a drag
You still stuff your mouth With his beans
You better check it out or someday soon
You'll have to climb back on the wagon

Keep in touch with mama kin
Tell her where you gone and been
Livin' out your fantasy
Sleepin' late and smokin' tea
Keep in touch with mama kin
Tell her where you gone and been
Livin' out your fantasy
Sleepin' late and suckin' me, oh no

It ain't easy livin' like you want to
It's so hard to find piece of mind
Yes it is
The way I see it You got to say 'shee-it'
But don't forget to drop me a line

Bald as an egg at eighteen
And workin' for daddy's just a drag
You still stuff your mouth With his beans
You better check it out or someday soon
You'll have to climb back on the wagon

Keep in touch with mama kin
Tell her where you gone and been
Livin' out your fantasy
Sleepin' late and smokin' tea
Keep in touch with mama kin
Tell her where you gone and been
Livin' out your fantasy
Sleepin' late and suckin' me
Ohh, ow, ow, ow, yeah ow, ow yeah, ow

It ain't easy, livin' like a Gypsy, distracting the restaurant manager while all 15 of your family walks out on the tab.

A month after this was released, at the age of 16, I found myself tripping on acid for the first time in the basement of a house in a small Southern Illinois town by the name of Harrisburg. I ended up in the basement because there was too much sound and light and people related stuff going on upstairs. There was a leopard blanket thing hanging upside down on the wall, you know the reversible 2 tone type. But why was it upside down? I could not wrap my mind around how it got there like this. The look on the leopard's face as it hung there, upside down, was possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. It had the expression that let me know it was just as puzzled by its predicament as I was. I had the G n R Lies cassette tape in my pocket and for whatever reason, I took a bite out of it. It was a clean straight through bite out of the corner that left a rounded bite shaped portion of the plastic shell gone. Later that night while walking down the old cobble like brick-paved street with my boots making the sound of a clock ticking, tic-toc, tic-toc, a police car pulled up and I tried to pretend like I could understand what they were saying. To this day I still wonder what they were saying, and why they were speaking in a foreign language. Then there was the dog.....oh man, the dog. As the sun was coming up I sat in the spare bedroom of a friend's mobile home listening to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in its entirety, over and over, with the sound turned all the way down, as tractor-trailers full of coal rumbled down the highway that this mobile home sat right next to, violently shaking it. The moral of this story is that this is a good album....oh, and kids, don't do drugs.
