The band consists of Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller on guitar and vocals and Brian Rosenworcel on percussion. Multi-instrumentalist and backup vocalist Joe Pisapia played with the band from 2003-2010. Luke Reynolds took Pisapia's place to tour with the band for their 2010 album, Easy Wonderful, and has remained with the band since. The band is noted for its catchy, poppy melodies, and the distinctive hand-drumming on percussion. They are also known for their humor, including a joke album released in 2003, The Meowstro Sings: Guster's Keep It Together, wherein the lyrics are replaced with (off-melody) meowing.
The band has released eight studio albums which are, in chronological order, Parachute, Goldfly, Lost and Gone Forever, Keep It Together, Ganging Up On the Sun, Easy Wonderful, Evermotion, and their most recent, Look Alive, which was released on January 18th, 2019. In addition, they have released a total of eleven live albums, spanning the years 2003-2015.
Parachute
Guster Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Peeking down over land
Parachute behind
What was that moment for which we live?
Without a parachute about to dive
I find myself convincing
Blindly falling faster
How easy
And the rest just is gone
Oh the adoration
But how much strength does it take
For exploration
For split decision
Or are you stronger to remain
I find myself convincing
Blindly falling faster
How easy
Know the place I'm leaving
And the rest is just gone
It crept up on me
Ignored all my pleas
Begging to leave
No justice to name me
Fell out of the sky
Cease it to be
Without a reply
Gravity fails me
And when I awoke
I knew what was real
Hope to convince you
Lies they all torture me
Opened the door
Knew what was me
I finally realized
Parachute over me
The lyrics to Guster's song Parachute are an introspective reflection on the moment of making a daring decision, taking a leap of faith, and the consequences that follow. The opening lines convey a sense of awe and anticipation that come with standing on the edge of a decision, ready to take the plunge ("There we stand, about to fly, peeking down over land, parachute behind. What was that moment for which we live? Without a parachute about to dive").
The next lines suggest that the decision is not an easy one, as the singer finds himself convincing himself to take a step into the unknown, blindly falling faster ("I find myself convincing, blindly falling faster, how easy. Know the place I'm leaving, and the rest just is gone"). The decision requires strength and courage for exploration and split-second choices ("Oh, the adoration, but how much strength does it take for exploration, for split decisions? Or are you stronger to remain?").
The chorus, "I finally realized, parachute over me," suggests that the singer has made the decision, taken the plunge, and is now slowly coming to terms with the consequences ("And when I awoke, I knew what was real. Hope to convince you, lies they all torture me. Opened the door, knew what was me").

@LasFrambuesas
An ex boyfriend of my sister downloaded the record soon after it was released back in 2001 or so and gave it to her as a present. This song was infiltrated by mistake and it was our favourite!! <3
