Walk of Shame
Guttermouth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In the hall late for class
Night before still kickin' my ass
40 minutes till I'm on my own
45 'till my mind is blown

Pulling in to the neighbourhood
Another night up to no good
Forty dollars to be feeling fine
Split a bindle and a jug of wine

Hauling ass in the B210
Empty bottles telling where we've been
Taking corners way too fast
End up on the neighbours grass

Pushing out to the street again
Here come the cops to put it all to an end
Screaming neighbours want to kick my ass

I'm walking home again
No use explaining where I've been
I'm walking home again

Another weekend and it's all the same
This time there's no one else to blame
9 AM has gone too far
Checking in to the first ER

Walking out on my feet again
Good times they never seem to end
Better days will never feel so bad

I'm walking home again
No use explaining where I've been
I'm walking home again

Hauling ass in the B210
Empty bottles telling where we've been
Taking corners way too fast
End up on the neighbours grass

Pushing out to the street again
Here come the cops to put it all to an end
Screaming neighbours want to kick my ass

I'm walking home again
No use explaining where I've been
I'm walking home again

Overall Meaning

The song "Walk of Shame" by Guttermouth tells the story of a young person who frequently finds themselves in a cycle of reckless behavior, substance abuse, and bad decisions. The song begins with the singer waking up late for class after a long night of partying, still feeling the effects of drugs and alcohol. They reflect on the time it will take for them to feel fully recovered and capable of functioning.

As they drive through the neighborhood, they recount the previous night's activities, spending money on drugs and alcohol that provided only temporary relief. The singer seems to thrive on the thrill of breaking rules and taking risks, even if it leads them to destructive behavior that endangers themselves and others. The song reaches its climax as the singer is chased by the police, crashes their car, and faces the rage of their neighbors.

Throughout the song, the singer's behavior is framed as a "walk of shame," suggesting that they feel guilty or regretful about their actions. However, it is unclear whether this feeling is genuine or simply a result of societal pressure to conform to normative standards of behavior. Overall, "Walk of Shame" paints a stark and unflattering picture of a person caught in a cycle of addiction and self-destructive behavior.

SpongeBath ShitPants

No insult intended; this is a great song, but my first thought was that it sounds very Blink 182.

Wes561

😂 you got it backwards if anything blink sounds like Guttermouth, Guttermouth came before blink

Mixtape-Ninja

Nah, you can hear the difference. Their guitar distortion is heavier. Lol. Blink will never make songs that sound like "Lucky The Donkey" or "Gold". They're too soft for that.
