The song brabant has been nominated as (new) provincional anthem.
In June 2009, Guus Meeuwis will perform in the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven for the fourth year in a row.
If you like this, may I recommend Andre Hazes version?

Brabant
Guus Meeuwis Lyrics

m'n kraag staat omhoog
't is hier ijskoud
Guus Meeuwis's song Brabant is a nostalgic tribute to his home province in the Netherlands, Brabant. The first verse sets the scene of the cold, silent city where Meeuwis finds himself walking alone at night. The lyrics mention the short days and early nights common in winter, and the lack of hospitable social spaces beyond one lonely bar. Despite feeling a sense of disconnection from this city, Meeuwis admits to never having felt homesick before, until he thinks of Brabant.
The chorus expresses the idea that while the world sleeps, and the city is quiet and dark, Brabant remains a shining light, a symbol of warmth and community, as well as home. The second verse lists a few of the things Meeuwis misses from his homeland- the cozy atmosphere of a small-town bar, hearing the charming "soft G" accent in conversations, even the petty complaints that come with small-town gossip- and longs for people to be as proud of their Brabant heritage as the Frieslanders are of their homeland. However, it is ultimately the person he loves who makes Brabant the most special place to him.
Overall, Brabant is a bittersweet love letter to home, a plaintive reflection on feeling displaced and the importance of roots and love in finding a sense of belonging.

Sort of translation in english ..
A warm hat on my head, my collar is up. Its freezing out here, but luckily it's dry. The days are so short here, the night begins soon. The people are stiff, n there is only one pub. When i walk to my hotel, after a dark n sad day. I feel deep in my pocket, my frontdoor homekey
When I walk here alone, in a to quiet town. I never before, felt as homesick as now. But the people are sleeping, the world is closed tight. Then i think of Brabant, because there still burns light.
I miss here the warmth of a village pub, and the dialect of my people will give me goosebumps. I miss just the whyning about everything and on, you can be proud of Brabant, as proud as you want. In the south full of sunshine, home, together with you. Thats just why my love for Brabanders soo huge.
I walk here alone, in a to quiet town. I never before felt as homesick as now. But the people are sleeping n the world is closed tight. Then i'll think of Brabant, 'cause there still burns light.
"De peel" and "De kempen" and "De meierij" but the prettiest of Brabant that's you, that is you
I walk here alone, in a to quiet town. I never before felt as homesick as now. But the people are sleeping, n the world is closed tight. Then i think of Brabant, because there still burns light.
Then I think of Brabant, because there still burns liiiiight.

@donbrabo
@bobhowat640
@dikkertjefap9709
@oxytocin6806
Bob Howat je kan al goed Nederlands.
@Thomanski
@panther6958
@sunnsight
Almost flawless...👍👍👏💛
