The original GCH began playing birthday parties, clubs, and festivals which eventually led to numerous larger venues throughout the northeast, including four years on Warped Tour (2003, 2004, 2006, 2008). During this time, GCH released four self-produced CDs: "Hed Candy" (1999), "Greasy Kids Stuff" (2000), "For the Kids" (2001) and "Papercut Chronicles EP" (2004).
"As cruel as School Children" was released on July 25, 2006. A second version of the album, released on November 4, 2006 additionally contains the single "Cupid's Chokehold"
After the release of "For the Kids", lead singer Travis McCoy won MTV's Direct Effect MC Battle and as a prize, he appeared in Styles P's video "Daddy Get That Cash".
The current configuration of GCH formed as guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo joined in late 2004, with bassist Eric Roberts joining in mid 2005.
After hearing the song "Taxi Driver", Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy invited the band to one of his shows. Gym Class Heroes then went on to join Pete Wentz's label, Decaydance Records, an imprint of Fueled by Ramen. Travis later said that Stump's support, coupled with the label's touring ethos and family atmosphere, led the band to signing with Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen.
Gym Class Heroes appeared on the Warped Tour in the summer of 2005 and 2006. The band completed their leg of a tour with The All-American Rejects on Nov. 29 in Las Vegas.
Their recent hit "Clothes Off" reached the No# 3 spot in the uk top 40 charts.
Lead singer Travis McCoy is currently working on a side project called Tequila Mockingbird with Nick Scimeca and is due out sometime early next year.
In mid-September 2008, Gym Class Heroes put out their album, "The Quilt". It was recorded during their late 2007 tour with Fall Out Boy and Plain White T's, "Young Wild Things". Soon after toured with Lil' Wayne on his "I Am Music" tour (late 2008).
The next album will be titled The Papercut Chronicles 2. The Stereo Hearts Songfacts reports that the first single from the album, "Stereo Hearts," features Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice coach Adam Levine on the chorus. It was released for download on iTunes on June 14, 2011 and also sent to all radio stations around the world the same day.
Travis McCoy is currently on a humanitarian trip across the globe to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and how to prevent it.

Who are you?
You have no talent.
Bad Juggler
Can't walk the high wire
Can't tame a tiger?
Then I'll a clown like my grandfather
You'll see, I'll show you all
I roll with kids with pierced faces and bad attitudes
You'll get stomped like a roach for acting rude
Show some gratitude and
We might just reserve the right to let you live
Think twice before you harrass these Crab-Ap Kids
Bring drama, react; we're known to slap kids
To cap kids, putting boogers all in they wigs
And if it comes to it, been known to decap kids
Blair Witch style, CAF written in twigs
We get in thick situations, easy times, and complications
>From very short times to long durations
We building nations, from D-town to Devesio
Canadegua, all the way to San Francisco
So what you know about the hoodies with the def-one tag on the side
We coastin' by while these cats jet-lag on the side
If someone told you Travis didn't love his kids they lied
You got a hoodie? Then rock it with pride!
And be the C to the R-A-B-A-P-P-L-E
Family until the day we D-I-E
Continuously extending ourselves for you to see
Smell, hear, touch, and taste; we be
The C to the R-A-B-A-P-P-L-E
K-I-D-S reppin' this lovely
As you can see, endlessly spitting prophecies
Until the day we D-I-E
I roll with kids with nappy heads and backpacks
And their hand in their business
The type of cats that whoop your ass
With Tony Hawk as their witness
Strictly benihanas, 360 judo madonnas
Riding long ass rails for bonus points if they wanna
315 area code, lo' and behold
They got that skill to make a dutchie burn slow when they roll
This is bigger than Geneva; I've got fam in Japan
And if you don't know, you better ask Hiroko
Greeted with Konichiwa, she'll tell you who's the best
Matter fact vocal-wise Trav is def
This shit is permanent. You shouldn't even be concerned with it
Unless you rock a crab apple with a worm in it
You freshmen to this game son, you're just learning it
And you can't touch the flame that we laced these burners with
Plus we hold our Pilot markers with the firmest grip
The firmest grip
THE FIRMEST GRIP
And be the C to the R-A-B-A-P-P-L-E

Basically there ain't shit you can tell me; my mind's made up

The lyrics of Gym Class Heroes' song "Crab Apple Kids" describe the feelings of a group of outsiders who are mocked and dismissed by those who can't see their potential. The singer addresses someone who has insulted them and tells them they have "no talent" and can't do anything impressive like walk a tightrope or tame a tiger. Instead, they plan to become a clown like their grandfather. The friends of the singer are described as being tough, with piercings and a bad attitude, and they won't hesitate to physically fight back if someone is rude to them. They are part of a group called the Crab Apple Kids (CAF), which is expanding to different cities around the world. The singer emphasizes the importance of the CAF lifestyle and identity, warning anyone who tries to mess with them that they will regret it.
The song is a celebration of being an outsider and not conforming to the expectations of others. The lyrics suggest that those who are misunderstood or rejected by society may find refuge and support in a community of others like them. The song also highlights the importance of standing up for oneself and not letting others dictate one's worth or destiny.
