The original GCH began playing birthday parties, clubs, and festivals which eventually led to numerous larger venues throughout the northeast, including four years on Warped Tour (2003, 2004, 2006, 2008). During this time, GCH released four self-produced CDs: "Hed Candy" (1999), "Greasy Kids Stuff" (2000), "For the Kids" (2001) and "Papercut Chronicles EP" (2004).
"As cruel as School Children" was released on July 25, 2006. A second version of the album, released on November 4, 2006 additionally contains the single "Cupid's Chokehold"
After the release of "For the Kids", lead singer Travis McCoy won MTV's Direct Effect MC Battle and as a prize, he appeared in Styles P's video "Daddy Get That Cash".
The current configuration of GCH formed as guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo joined in late 2004, with bassist Eric Roberts joining in mid 2005.
After hearing the song "Taxi Driver", Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy invited the band to one of his shows. Gym Class Heroes then went on to join Pete Wentz's label, Decaydance Records, an imprint of Fueled by Ramen. Travis later said that Stump's support, coupled with the label's touring ethos and family atmosphere, led the band to signing with Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen.
Gym Class Heroes appeared on the Warped Tour in the summer of 2005 and 2006. The band completed their leg of a tour with The All-American Rejects on Nov. 29 in Las Vegas.
Their recent hit "Clothes Off" reached the No# 3 spot in the uk top 40 charts.
Lead singer Travis McCoy is currently working on a side project called Tequila Mockingbird with Nick Scimeca and is due out sometime early next year.
In mid-September 2008, Gym Class Heroes put out their album, "The Quilt". It was recorded during their late 2007 tour with Fall Out Boy and Plain White T's, "Young Wild Things". Soon after toured with Lil' Wayne on his "I Am Music" tour (late 2008).
The next album will be titled The Papercut Chronicles 2. The Stereo Hearts Songfacts reports that the first single from the album, "Stereo Hearts," features Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice coach Adam Levine on the chorus. It was released for download on iTunes on June 14, 2011 and also sent to all radio stations around the world the same day.
Travis McCoy is currently on a humanitarian trip across the globe to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and how to prevent it.

Now pay close attention
Keep you fist clenchin'
As I begin my assertion
Feel the tension
Of this name you never mention
If you do ill have they're ass sitten in detention
I block shots and take props
I'm like new york city at 12 o'clock when the apple drop
At 12 o'clock when the apple drop
Oh My God [Repeat: x 5]
Check the illmatic
Evil flows kinder a static
Crazy ill finatic, sick physco simatic
Like an addict
Only accideted to them fat beats
You better take a seat
Before the lyrics and the music be too late
You better coordinate you feet
Before I blast that ass
You'll be outcasting like a black sheep
Don't believe me what will it take for you to see me
Or get this shit straight 'til we be busting out your tv
Like VR bout to smoke you, like a cigar
Won't be satisfied until you recognize who we are
I'm so crazy like martin, farting fire like cartin'
Be witness to these lyrical riots that I be startin'
If your real, we friends to the end like chuckie
And if not, you'll live if your lucky
And if not, you'll live if your lucky
Oh My God [Repeat: x 4]
Yo yo
That red means stop (stop)
But that green means go (go)
Stretch my mind catch a rhyme like steve percipio
But I don't skate I just been known to rip a mic
Until I get pissed off
And just might throw this mic at you
You cant escape it just like death when it comes
I can see it, you catch a kick like them yamaha drums
And thats the bricks, as I lounge like a fat rat
You bust back and might catch a cat, rat-a-tat-tat
The one and only always real, never phoney
Look to the sky, the world is mine like tony
Ain't no scars on my face, and I don't sniff coke
I ain't got my own place, and my pockets is broke
I'm reppin' self, to hell wit anyone else [Repeat: x 3]
I'm reppin' self
[Repeat: x 2]
So just hold ya head, and say Oh My God
Hold ya head, and say Oh My God
Grab a hold of your dread and say Oh My God
Oh My God, Oh My God
Is this real?
The lyrics of Gym Class Heroes's song "Oh My God" reflect upon the singer's frustration and opposition to particular individuals or groups. He claims to be well-versed in the "school of hard knocks," blocking shots and taking props. He compares himself to New York City's Time Square on New Year's Eve, with the apple dropping at midnight. The singer appears to demand attention as he expresses his thoughts and opinions, stating that if someone disagrees with him, they will be put in detention.
As the song progresses, the tone of the lyrics becomes increasingly aggressive. The singer uses words like "psycho" and "riots" to illustrate a theme of violence. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing his musical talent, stating that he will not be satisfied until he is properly acknowledged. The singer also encourages listeners to proclaim their own worth and assert their individuality, despite any external judgments. Overall, the song's lyrics convey a sense of power and justified anger towards those who try to suppress or diminish one's talents.

Derek Carlton Anderson same, man. Reminds me of hanging with my older brother. He was always into rock, and was really into these guys. I was always into hip hop, so he made me listen to these guys. I was hooked.
