Exact whereabouts? I'm not so sure.
I'll figure out your name come morning,
But your scent is something I should know.
...I'm not that far away.
Take control before things get away.
I'm sleeping while the sun is dawning.. it will never ever, ever know.
Take it.
Won't make it.
I've fallen asleep at the wheel.
If I had left in time we wouldn't be behind, but be careful what you wish for.
Stay here while I check her pulse - it could be someone else!
Be careful... Oh be careful...
I'd figure out your name by morning.
Still your scent is one thing I should know.
I'm sleeping while the sun is dawning.. it will never ever, ever, ever know.
...I'm not that far away.
Take control before things get away.
I've fallen asleep at the wheel.
If I'd have left in time we wouldn't be behind, but be careful what you wish for.
Stay here while I check her pulse - it could be someone else!
Be careful... Oh be careful...
I've figured your name out by morning.
I'm sleeping while the sun is dawning.
Take it. (take the turn)
Won't make it. (and watch it burn)
Oh to watch you burn... oh to watch you burn.
I've figured out your name by morning.
I'm sleeping while the sun is dawning.
I said that if I'd have left in timewe wouldn't be left behind, but be careful what you wish for.
Stay here while I check her pulse - it could be someone else!
Be careful... Oh be careful...
Take it.
Won't make it.
I've fallen asleep at the wheel.
The song "These Days" by Gyroscope is a poignant reflection on the dangers of reckless behavior, particularly the consequences of falling asleep at the wheel. The song opens with a sense of deja vu, as the singer recognizes a face but can't recall where they've seen it before. He promises to figure out the person's name by morning, but for now, he's preoccupied with their scent.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the singer is driving with someone else in the car. He's been neglecting the road and has fallen asleep at the wheel, causing them to fall behind schedule. He regrets not leaving earlier and warns that sometimes things are best left as they are, cautioning against getting carried away with one's desires.
Throughout the song, there's a sense of urgency and danger, the singer recognizing that their actions have consequences that can have life-altering repercussions. The ending is bittersweet, as the singer finally figures out the other person's name, but the moment is tinged with regret and the harsh realization that he's been too cavalier with his own safety and those around him.
Overall, "These Days" is a powerful ballad that explores the complexities and uncertainties of life, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant and present in the moment, especially when behind the wheel.
