Beata viscera
Höyry-kone Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Marie virginis
Cuius ad ubera
Rex magni nominis
Veste sub altera
Vim celans numinis
Dictavit federa
Dei et hominis
O mira novitas
Et novum gaudium
Matris integrita
Post puerperium
Populus gentium
Sedens in tenebris
Surgit ad gaudium
Partus tam celebris
Iudea tedium
Fovet in latebris
Cor gerens conscium
Delicet funebris
O mira novitas
Et novum gaudium
Matris integrita
Post puerperium
Beata viscera
Marie virginis
Cuius ad ubera
Rex magni nominis
Veste sub altera
Vim celans numinis
Dictavit federa
Dei et hominis
O mira novitas
Et novum gaudium
Matris integrita
Post puerperium
The lyrics of "Beata Viscera" by Höyry-kone celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ from the perspective of the Virgin Mary. The first stanza praises Mary, describing her as a blessed virgin with whom even the great king made a covenant. The second stanza speaks of the joy associated with the birth of Jesus and the wonder of the experience. The third stanza refers to the birth of Jesus as a celebration for all people and a light in the darkness, bringing joy to those living in the shadow of the Tedium of Judea. The fourth stanza repeats the praises of the Virgin Mary, emphasizing her role in the birth of Jesus.
The use of Latin in "Beata Viscera" adds to the religious tone and the ancient feel of the song. The lyrics also reference biblical themes and language, reflecting the strong religious influence on this piece. The lyrics paint a picture of the joy and wonder surrounding the birth of Jesus, and the importance of the Virgin Mary in this story.
