The Man
H.A.K Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I spent the last six years like hoffman in a swimming pool,
And I've been lost at sea inside a house off driftwood avenue, and I
I made a mess out of the life that lay ahead of me, oh
The clock is ticking faster now
And I'm too old to be growing up

Goodbye the heartache that's the only southern part of me
I pack some boxes in the basement and move down the street, and I
I'll leave the pirate ships to kids who don't know anything, oh
I'll be every bit the person we both already know I'll be

Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man
Wake up, wake up (wake up, wake up)
Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man
Wake up, wake up (wake up, wake up)
Wave goodbye as I outgrow the shadow of Peter Pan
It's time to be a man

Don't close your eyes
Don't say goodnight
Don't take your life
Wake up, wake up

I had another nightmare, baby won't you comfort me?
Been lost at sea inside a house off beachwood avenue, and I
I made a mess out of the life that lay ahead of me, oh
The clock is ticking faster now
The clock is ticking faster now

Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man
Wake up, wake up
(Don't close your eyes, don't say goodnight)
Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man
(Don't disappear, don't not be here)
Wake up, wake up
Wave goodbye as I outgrow the shadow of Peter Pan
It's time to be a man

Don't close your eyes
Don't say goodnight
Don't disappear
Don't not be here
Wake up, wake up

Wake up, wake up (wake up, wake up)
Wake up, wake up (wake up, wake up)
Wake up, wake up (wake up, wake up)
Wake up, wake up

Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man (don't close your eyes)
Wake up, wake up (don't say goodnight)
Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man (don't disappear)
Wake up, wake up
Wave goodbye as I outgrow the shadow of Peter Pan
I'll be every bit the person we both already know I can
It's time to be a man

I used to see all of your worthy causes
Been lost at sea inside a house off Driftwood avenue
I made a mess out of the life that lay ahead of me

The clock is ticking faster now
The clock is ticking faster now

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to H.A.K's song "The Man" is about the struggles and growth of a young man who is trying to find his way out of his past mistakes and move forward as a responsible adult. The singer reflects on the last six years of his life, comparing it to being lost in a swimming pool like Dustin Hoffman in the movie "The Graduate." He also acknowledges the chaos that he caused in his own life and how he has been living like a pirate, being irresponsible and carefree.

The chorus of the song, "Wake up, wake up, it's time to be a man," serves as a reminder to the singer to take responsibility for his life and to stop living in the shadow of Peter Pan. He's saying goodbye to the heartache that once held him back and instead decides to pack some boxes and move down the street. The song emphasises the importance of growing up and facing life's challenges, despite the fear that may come with responsibility.

For 2003, CGI Hulk's movement is really, really fluid. It's actually kinda impressive.

@SynchronizorVideos

Yeah, while the rendering is kinda dated (still works though), the animation is pretty darn good. Very lifelike movements even with the crazy strength and speed. Not sure if they used mocap, or just references.

@hasofficial5375

Very nice and very good at all and I can talk to good

@phillipwalling7470

To make it even better, this was before Motion Capture became a thing.

@jonnypanteloni

Yeah we gained a lot of technology but whine about everything so all our product is generally ascribed to waste.

@themissouriranger2829

it reminds me of the CGI In Van Helsing, which came out in 2004
