Hi everyone ! Great review of a very interesting frame ! Question : I love my Prince Textreme Tour 100 (290) but consider a move. I can wait the new model (maybe you have some infos about it?) but the Boom could be a good choice too. What would be the main differences between them ? Cheers from France :)

We don't have much info on the exact racquets, although we have heard that the Tour line from Prince should be getting an update sometime around the beginning of Spring, 2022. We are hoping that they will be a pretty easy transition from the current line. As far as this Boom MP from head goes, it could definitely be worth a demo. It is a pretty good racquet overall and maybe a bit more easy power compared to the Tour 100 (290). Troy, TW

I think the engineering is excellent at Head, but I can't ignore quality control. I'm not going to be pumping up a brands sales figures when they don't care enough to offer tighter tolerances across the board. If the end product is not tight, they clearly don't value their customers, as they don't resource that area of manufacturing to make sure we get a premium racquet for a premium price. Boom.

Couldn't agree more. Quality control sucks at Head. It's something they could do something about, but don't want to spend the money...even on their priciest models. Greed.

As far as the power rating goes, it is likely closest to the Extreme MP or Instinct MP, so it provides pretty easy access to power. The main difference is the feel, which the more traditional box beam in the throat gives a softer or more plush feel than the stiffness might indicate. It also has a wider head shape towards the top for more forgiveness on heavy topspin strokes. Troy, TW

The Boom feels a bit more muted and a little bit firmer compared to the Gravity and will offer a bit free-er/easier power and spin with the Gravity providing a bit more feel and control.

Both are high quality. The Boom MP offers a bit easier access to power, and the sweet-spot feels a bit bigger up towards the top of the hoop. The Speed MP offers slightly more control, and bit more plow through. Troy, TW

The feel of the Boom racquets is slightly more dampened, and comfortable. The Boom MP is more maneuverable and provides easier power than the Boom Pro. The Radical MP feels slightly more connected to the ball and a bit more precise than the Boom Pro, and it also is a bit lighter overall. Troy, TW

It really just depends on the player and what traits you want to maximize in the racquet. For max power and comfort a nice multi string like Head Reflex MLT would be a good start. If you want to maximize control and spin, and aren't so much worried about comfort, then a poly like head Lynx Tour at a lower tension could be a good choice, or the Lynx Touch is fairly comfortable for a poly type of string. And from there if you want something which sort of meets in the middle, a hybrid could be a great option, like mixing a multi with a poly, Head Lynx Touch with Head Reflex or Velocity. Troy, TW

You can make the comparisons in terms of power and comfort. This Boom MP is a bit wider in the upper hoop for a bit more forgiveness on aggressive topspin strokes. Overall, it is not quite as flexible as the Clash, but still pretty comfortable. Troy, TW

The Pure Drive provides a bit easier power, as it is stiffer and gives a bit easier energy return. This Boom MP also has pretty easy power, but more of a muted feel and has a pretty high launch angle. That said the comfort is better with the Boom MP, so that could be a good trade-off for some. Head has them both rated at the same Control Power Index, of 600. We found pretty easy power with both racquets, but maybe a bit more of a solid feel, and response from the Boom MP, and it felt a bit more stable on contact as well. Troy, TW

Stay away from this elboy-destroying stick. And if you hit on the flat side, good luck controlling depth; After l loadied up the tip with lead tape, I got more control on depth but sacrificed some maneuverablility and shock absorbition. I'm 75 years old, been playing since I was little kid in the 1950s, so I may be ready to move into at least a midp-plus in order to keep up with the retired full-time players who are just a bit younger than me, although I'm still able to out-maneuver the baseline players a lot more than half my age and finally figured out how to crush the pushers-many who seem to be able to win at the 4.5 level, I;m demoing mid-plusses and even a few oversize rackets to be able to get more accuracy, especially with depth control and angles--important four aging players who still play A & B level tournaments, Hope I DIE 'for I get old- The Who. been focusing on my tennis game and staying out of our deeply contamiated ocean after being a top-ranked surfer for most of my life; so , now my focus is on tennis, a game that's changed so much since my early lessons. It's finally getting into summer on the Cal mid coast, and I'm getting psyched to get out onto the courts an hit, not looking forward to playing on hard surfaces after a lifetime on clay, but I'll adjust, crafty older & smarter player than when I was a chip n' charge, serve 'n volley agro player.My confidence climbs whenever I'm at the net. Pat Rafter was tha last player worth following--emulated his style.

They both have the same CPI (control power index) rating from Head, and we also noticed fairly similar power/control. The feels is somewhat different, as the Boom feels a bit more comfortable or softer, and maybe a bit more dampened. That said, the Extreme MP feels slightly more predictable, and maybe a bit more precise. Troy, TW
