The sisters grew up in a musical family, and began playing instruments from an early age in the cover band Rockinhaim, fronted by their parents, Moti and Donna. The two elder sisters, Este and Danielle, began performing with the pop group "Valli Girls" in 2005. They released a few songs on soundtrack and compilation albums under that name, but left the group shortly after an appearance at the 2005 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. They formed Haim with younger sister Alana in 2007, but did not seriously consider it a professional career for some years. After Danielle became a successful touring guitarist, first with Jenny Lewis and later with Julian Casablancas, Haim reformed as a full-time operation in 2012.
The group's first release, Forever EP (an EP released as a limited-time download), combined with positive reception at the South by Southwest festival, led to a deal with Polydor Records and a management deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation group in mid-2012. The band began recording material for their first album, Days Are Gone, in sessions between touring dates, including appearances at the Glastonbury Festival. The album charted in the top ten in several countries, including the number-one spot in the UK, and the group had won several "best of" awards by the end of 2013. The group was nominated for Best New Artist at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Their second album, Something to Tell You, was released in July 2017. Their third album, titled Women in Music Pt. III, was released on June 26, 2020. The group received nominations at the 63rd Grammy awards for Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance (for "The Steps").
In 2024, the sisters blacked out the band's Instagram, seemingly teasing new music by putting "writing... writing... writing..." in the account's bio.
Another Try
HAIM Lyrics

Never really mattered that much to me
Now all these apologies are on repeat
Is it destiny or just chemistry?
We're living in such extremes
And life won't wait around
So are we gonna give it another try?
'Cause if it's luck that's not on our side
I'm wishing the best for the next in line
One thing's true
Every memory leads back to you
Got your hat in the back faded up
Camo tee in the crease of the passenger's seat
And every time I try to leave 'em out
My feelings come back around
So are we gonna give it another try?
Are we gonna give it another try?
'Cause if it's luck that's not on our side
I'm wishing the best for the next in line
But are we gonna give it another try?
But are we gonna give it another try?
Wrapped up in your old fleece
I put it on when I can't sleep
When I call and I can't reach you
Worried that it makes me look weak to you
Just one more time
Try
So are we gonna give it another try?
Are we gonna give it another try?
'Cause if it's luck that's not on our side
I'm wishing the best for the next in line
We could give this another try
If it don't work then it's alright
I'm wishing the best, baby
I'm wishing the best, baby (if it don't work then it's alright)
I'm wishing the best, baby
I'm wishing the best, baby (if it don't work then it's alright)
The lyrics to HAIM's song "Another Try" seem to reflect on the complexity of a relationship and the uncertainty surrounding its future. The singer acknowledges that there may have been disagreements or differences in the past, but now there is a longing to give the relationship another chance. The repetition of apologies suggests a pattern of mistakes or misunderstandings, yet the singer wonders if there is something more profound at play – whether it be destiny or simply a strong chemistry between them. The lyrics acknowledge the extremes they have experienced and emphasize that time is running out, urging them to make a decision and not let life pass them by.
The second verse further explores the theme of memories that constantly lead back to the person they are addressing. In describing certain tangible reminders of this person – such as a faded hat in the back and a camo tee in the passenger's seat – the lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia and attachment. The singer admits that no matter how hard they try to forget or move on, their feelings inevitably come back full circle. There is a sense of longing and vulnerability, highlighted by the mention of a fleece that is worn when they can't sleep, as if seeking comfort and solace in the memories of this person. Ultimately, they ask whether it is worth giving the relationship another try, even if luck has not been on their side.

Every song is so good. They truly gave us a no-skips album.
@ZenZill
Can't agree more. Chris by Christine and the Queens, and Lost Girls by Bat for Lashes are too very good albums recently released that are up in that no-skip echelon.
@slimrutherford2375
Bodhi the Chris album is absolutely amazing! Follarse/Damn, What Must a Woman Do is an amazing track
