The sisters grew up in a musical family, and began playing instruments from an early age in the cover band Rockinhaim, fronted by their parents, Moti and Donna. The two elder sisters, Este and Danielle, began performing with the pop group "Valli Girls" in 2005. They released a few songs on soundtrack and compilation albums under that name, but left the group shortly after an appearance at the 2005 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. They formed Haim with younger sister Alana in 2007, but did not seriously consider it a professional career for some years. After Danielle became a successful touring guitarist, first with Jenny Lewis and later with Julian Casablancas, Haim reformed as a full-time operation in 2012.
The group's first release, Forever EP (an EP released as a limited-time download), combined with positive reception at the South by Southwest festival, led to a deal with Polydor Records and a management deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation group in mid-2012. The band began recording material for their first album, Days Are Gone, in sessions between touring dates, including appearances at the Glastonbury Festival. The album charted in the top ten in several countries, including the number-one spot in the UK, and the group had won several "best of" awards by the end of 2013. The group was nominated for Best New Artist at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Their second album, Something to Tell You, was released in July 2017. Their third album, titled Women in Music Pt. III, was released on June 26, 2020. The group received nominations at the 63rd Grammy awards for Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance (for "The Steps").
In 2024, the sisters blacked out the band's Instagram, seemingly teasing new music by putting "writing... writing... writing..." in the account's bio.
Don't Save Me
HAIM Lyrics

Still I never want it to go
I would hold it up to my cold heart
Feel the way it used to start up
Take me back, take, take
Take me back to the way that I was before
Hungry for what was to comeNow I'm longing for the way I was
You say you will, say you will save me
You say you will, say you will save me
You say you will, say you will save me
You say you will, say you will, oh-oh
Take me back
Give it up, give it up to me
'Cause I can't go on
If your love isn't strong
See I wanna know
Give me, give me all your love
If you can't hold on
Then baby, baby don't save me now
(If your love isn't strong)
Baby, don't save me now
No, no
All my life I wasn't trying to get on a highway
I was wondering which way to go
Spending all of my damn time
Leaving all the weight behind you
Take me back, take take
Take me back to the song how it used to go oh-oh
Now I'm dreaming 'bout the way I was
You say you will, say you will save me
You say you will, say you will save me
You say you will, say you will save me
You say you will, say you will, oh-oh
Take me back
Give it up, give it up to me
'Cause I can't go on
If your love isn't strong
See I wanna know
Give me, give me all your love
If you can't hold on
Then baby, baby don't save me now
(If your love isn't strong)
Baby, don't save me now
No, no
And if I have to beg for your love
(Again, and again and again)
Tell me, tell me
Oh, will it ever be enough?
(Again, and again and again)
Tell me, tell me
And if I have to beg for your love
(Again, and again and again)
Tell me, tell me
Oh, will it ever be enough?
(Again, and again and again)
So, baby don't save me
No, baby don't save me
Baby, don't save me now
(Again, and again and again)
(If your love isn't strong)
Baby, don't save me now
(Again, and again and again)
(If your love isn't strong)
Baby, don't save me now
(Again, and again and again)
(If your love isn't strong)
Baby, don't save me now
(Again, and again and again)
(If your love isn't strong)
Don't save me
(Again, and again and again)
Don't save me
(Again, and again and again)
The lyrics to HAIM's song Don't Save Me depict a person who has grown tired of a situation but at the same time, doesn't want it to change. They feel trapped between wanting to move on and wanting to cling to what they know. The first verse speaks of the singer's attachment to the familiar and how they hold onto it despite their awareness that it is no longer serving them. The chorus, with its repetition of "you say you will save me" suggests that the singer is being tempted to return to the old ways. The second verse continues this theme, with the singer worried about making the right decisions and spending too much of their life fretting about what could have been.
However, towards the end of the song, the singer's tone becomes more assertive. They realize that if love is not present in full force, then their partner shouldn't save them. They refuse to be rescued from a situation that might not bring them the satisfaction they need. The overall message of the song seems to be that the singer has grown and realized that they do not need to be saved from their own decisions. They want to live on their own terms, with love that is whole or not at all.

How can anyone not like this? LOL It's so adorable and catchy! Not to mention sincere. Unlike most "pop/rock" these days.
@KarunyaSabapathy
I'm convinced it's impossible to listen to this song without bopping your head.
Impossible.
@bcbcbcbcb
I bopped my head to all HAIM songs. I guess I'm not a minority.
@KarunyaSabapathy
Don Lee Maybe we still are a minority, but you're definitely not alone!
I love listening to this song and Haim. Whenever I have a breakdown, which unfortunately happens more than I'd like it to, (but hey that's college/life) they cheer me up. :D

i feel like, if this was released 20 years prior and on a major label, it would be a classic
@BornInTheWrongTimes
I think anything released by a major label company becomes a classic even if it’s terrible like Shake It Off lol
@ismaelgabrielvinolyrodrigu3549
it is a classic.
