This is in some ways my favorite episode, if for nothing else the fact that Capt. Sobel and Army noodles with ketchup were their biggest concerns...knowing what lies ahead.

In my opinion the best WWII drama ever told. Every actor was phenomenal, the stories were flawless, and the action amazing of course!

I recently watched BofB and Pacific back to back and BoB has something extra that Pacific doesn't. There is more warmth and a slower pace with deeper character development.

@Bruce1956 1917 Was good, but it wasn't very realistic. A cinematic marvel, yes, but didn't necessarily deal with the realities of World War 1 accurately. It barely touched on trench warfare, didn't showcase the true brutality of the war, and the set pieces really looked like set pieces.

Well, this is making me want to watch it all over again and I can't tell you how many times I've watched it. It came out after both my Grandads had passed and even though they were in the British Army and Navy respectively, I knew after seeing this series just what sort if things they had gone through. Heroes, all of them!!

Ron Livingston has always been one of those actors that I root for. I don’t see him in nearly enough things, but whenever I see him I’m happy to. He seems like a decent dude. Great podcast.

Of late I’ve had a real obsession with Band of Brothers and I related to the idea that I’ve been researching my families history and involvement in World War II. Particularly my dad and his three siblings one, 1Lt. Raymond Hilgenberg a fighter pilot in P-51 Mustang‘s was a true hero who was KIA at the age of 21 on a mission over Germany 24/02/45. But as I listen to the second episode and hear Ron talk it soothes me and reminds me of how real these young me were. I’ve recently come into
My uncle‘s uniform and flight gear and it covers me with emotion. For a while I thought it was just me and my sentimentality over my uncle that drew me into the series whenever it airs, but I’m now realizing it’s much bigger than my tangental connection. Anyway, I quite appreciative of these podcasts and particularly Ron’s great insight…he’s one of my favorite actors…I used to be jealous of him because he was the actor I wanted to be! Cheers!

Sobel never got the appreciation that he deserved. He was hard but he trained some bad ass guys to do a difficult job with great success. He was maybe a bad felt leader but he created the foundation for some amazing soldiers.

Loving these interviews. Maybe it was a time constraint but wishing you had been able to ask him for some more personal stories/events he experienced during the making of the series.

You do a great job keeping him on track during the interview with your questions but was hoping at the end for a "Do you have any last cool stories?"

Band of Brothers is one of the VERY FEW film series that is loved equally by the film industry and historians alike. Such attention to detail and staying true as possible to characters while taking the liberty to show the drama and narrative that a big film series needs. After all these years, it’s such a masterpiece that it looks like it came out last year

This was such a risky series, kind of parallels the invasion of Europe in a way with the co-production between Britain and America. You have so many speaking parts for a unit that had hundreds of men who had served in Easy Company, how do you make an audience care about individual characters that we barely get a chance to explore much of their back stories?
I can only say they did an amazing job.
I know they tried "The Pacific" after this but I remember it didn't quite work as well as Band of Brothers.
Launched so many careers and rightfully deserves to be remembered as one of the best TV series ever made

The reason for me that The Pacific did not really work that well, is that they followed like three big main characters that were not in the same unit/platoon, so there was no real camaraderie as we saw in Band Of Brothers.

Sobel was really done dirty by this show. He was a competent leader and absolutely saw real deal combat and won medals for among other things, personally recovering wounded men under enemy fire. Say what you want about him making them run up and down the mountain, he was always running up and down right beside them. Was he the best military commander in the field? No. But the show did him dirty.

The show makes him look like he didn't do anything during the war because he was a jerk or something.

You guys need real audio and video equipment. It sounds like you are doing this podcast via cell phone. And you NEED to utilize webcams. Audio combined with artwork is not enough to carry a 40 minute podcast on YouTube in 2021. There's also footage form the video diary from behind the scenes that could fit. You could roll clips from the actual mini series up to 15 seconds at a time.

And you need to take the time to add time stamps for topics. Guarantee most people are clicking, listening for 30 seconds, and clicking away because they see a 44 minute run time and no sense of direction.

It's such an amazing opportunity to interview these guys about a series that has captivated us all for 20 years, and if you would just invest like $1000 into equipment and an editor, this could have been something valuable.
