My darling you said
Take your time,
And consume all of it
Let the roses,
Only to drain my inspiration
The promises,
Was born before they left your lips
I breath you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin,
Holding on to
The sweet escape,
Is always laced with a,
Familiar taste,
Of poison
I tell myself,
That you're no good for me
I wish you well,
But desire never leaves
I can fight this to the end,
But maybe I don't wanna win
I breath you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin,
Holding on to
The sweet escape,
Is always laced with a,
Familiar taste,
Of poison
I don't wanna be saved,
I don't wanna be saved,
And I,
Want you on my mind
In my dreams,
Behind these eyes,
And I,
Wanna wake up,
No, not this time
I breath you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin,
Holding on to
The sweet escape,
Is always laced with a,
Familiar taste,
Of poison
A familiar taste,
Of poison
A familiar taste,
Of poison
The song "Familiar Taste of Poison" by Halestorm is about a toxic relationship where the singer is addicted to her lover, although she knows that the person is no good for her. The lyrics "Drink the wine, My darling you said, Take your time, And consume all of it" suggests that the person is leading the singer into danger and encouraging her to indulge in behaviors that are hazardous. The mention of "Let the roses, Only to drain my inspiration" suggests that the relationship becomes draining of all the love and passion that the singer once had.
The line "I tell myself, That you're no good for me, I wish you well, But desire never leaves" reveals that the singer is aware that the person she is with is not good for her, but she still can't bring herself to let go. The chorus "I breathe you in again, Just to feel you, Underneath my skin, Holding onto, The sweet escape, Is always laced with a, Familiar taste of poison" signifies the singer's yearning to be in this relationship despite knowing that it's toxic. The line "And I, Want you on my mind, In my dreams, Behind these eyes, And I, Wanna wake up, No, not this time" suggests that the singer is struggling to let go of the person even in her dreams.
Overall, the song captures the raw and painful reality of being stuck in a relationship that is no good, yet desperately holding onto it.

My favorite lyrics in this song are "I don't wanna be saved, I don't wanna be sober, I want you on my mind" and also "I could fight this till the end but maybe I don't wanna win". So powerful and relatable in that we have all loved someone that we knew wasn't good for us but we stayed anyway. Just an incredible and deep song!!

I only heard this song for the first time last week and has been on constant repeat since then. What a song. The live performance on Jimmy Fallon is even better.

I saw them play this live a few days ago in Birmingham and it was excellent. The whole show was but this stood out.
