Running toward the wall
Seeing from your blinds eye
But you don't know me at all
I've been here
Too many times before
And your tears don't mean a thing
I told you
[Chorus]
Just don't follow me home
You're just to perfect for my hands to hold
If you choose to stay you'll throw it all away
And I just want to take your innocence
This is what you wanted
Did I make your dreams come true
Sitting in a corner
Wondering what you got into
You ache for this
You don't understand
That your tears don't mean a thing
And I only come when you scream
I told you
[Chorus]
There's no such thing as fate
Only yourself to blame
You never walked away
I told you
[Chorus: x2]
And I just want to take your innocence
I just want to take
Halestorm's song "Innocence" is a powerful commentary on the destructive nature of toxic relationships. The lyrics describe the conflict between two people, one of whom is desperate to hold onto their innocence while the other is seeking to take it away. The song begins with the lines "See it from the outside, running toward the wall/Seeing from your blind eye, but you don't know me at all." The first person is running blindly towards disaster, unable to see the danger they are in, while the second person is warning them from the outside.
The chorus of "Innocence" expands on this theme, with the lyrics "Just don't follow me home/You're just too perfect for my hands to hold/If you choose to stay, you'll throw it all away/And I just want to take your innocence." Here, the second person acknowledges that they are not the right person for the first, but still desires to corrupt them. They warn them that if they continue down this path, they will lose everything that makes them special, and the second person will have achieved their goal of taking their innocence. The song ends with the line "And I just want to take your innocence," emphasizing the destructive nature of the relationship and the sinister intentions of the second person.
Overall, "Innocence" is a haunting reminder of the dangers of toxic relationships and the importance of holding onto one's true self. It explores the psychological toll that these types of relationships can take on individuals and the importance of recognizing warning signs before it's too late.

Every song I listen to has at least 1 person in the comments raving about the cover art. I concur. One of the best I've seen honestly, top ten anyway. I'd buy the vinyl just for the art.

"You're just too perfect for my hands to hold"
I have a man in my life that I feel this way towards. I don't have much but I would give everything for him, but he's far too sweet for someone jaded and cold like me. I don't want to take the light from him.
