Armed with solid training and raw talent, they mix and combine their different musical backgrounds. Their complex arrangements, inspired by both classical and modern composers, are particularly striking to hear and see during their live shows. Devon Portielje’s remarkable voice is beautifully backed up by Connor Molander and Dylan Phillips. Phillips often plays drums and keys simultaneously as Molander and Portielje shuffle between guitar, keys, samplers, and percussion folky three-part harmonies hold down moody, psychedelic arrangements and electronic-infused soundscapes. They have recently welcomed a 4th member on stage, multi-instrumentlist Isaac Symonds, who adds his voice as well as playing guitar, keyboards and percussions.
Unofferable
Half Moon Run Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'll be the first to fall
Give me an offer unofferable
Imagine the warmth
In those tiny hands
That held onto a penance
I didn't deserve
Don't it feel like a knife
In the back of your head?
And it reeks like an afterthought rotten and said
Maybe something got lost or forgotten instead
Oh, and I'm bound by a trunk
With a few memories
Of how you burn through your lovers
It's like an ugly disease
Give me an offer unofferable
That held onto a penance
I didn't deserve
And it reeks like an afterthought rotten instead
And maybe something got lost or forgotten and said
"Unofferable" by Half Moon Run is a longing cry for something unattainable. The song starts with the singer asking for a lie, indicating a willingness to be deceived because the truth is too hard to bear. The chorus, "give me an offer unofferable," reveals the true desire of the singer, to have something that is impossible to have. The second verse talks about the warmth in someone's hands who held onto a penance the singer didn't deserve. This is reminiscent of a past relationship where the singer feels like they were wronged and the guilt was placed on them. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the futility of wanting something unattainable.

+Corinne Duval It reminds me a little of the album The Wall from Pink Floyd. This song has some depth and kinda makes me feel… cold or warm, I can't tell which one. I like it a lot.

Tom Hammond Compared to the album for sure...I made this comment on the other vids from this session..the album is over produced. I dismissed the album as wishy washy until I was sent this...a lot of respect for these guys after watching this...who ever produced the album ruined it IMO
