Snake
Halflives Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't play me, I'm a fire
Captive in a game of liars
Oh can't you see my face (Oh no)
Such a disgrace (How so)
I see knives held right at my face

Pain, I had it then I found my place
Play by my rules, don't complain
I'll bite and walk away

Heard that you said that I should leave this town
I think I'll sit and watch as you're going down
I'll twist the knife and leave you with a vicious ache
I won't blink, I won't shake, no
Because baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake

Don't blame me, I'm a poison
Tame me, I'm gonna be your prison
Crawling into your bed (Oh Lord)
I'll leave you for dead (Poor soul)
You'll wish you listened to what I said

Shame, you feel it when you hear my name
Frame my picture in your brain
I'll smile but it's just a fake

Heard that you said that I should leave this town
I think I'll sit and watch as you're going down
I'll twist the knife and leave you with a vicious ache
I won't blink, I won't shake, no
Because baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake

Karma knows and will come collect the debt
And your soul is a price you won't forget
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, hear me out
I'll haunt your dreams forever now

Heard that you said that I should leave this town
I think I'll sit and watch as you're going down
I'll twist the knife and leave you with a vicious ache
And I won't blink, I won't shake
Because baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake

Baby I'm a snake
Baby I'm a snake

The song "Snake" by Halflives is about being betrayed by someone you trusted, and taking revenge on them. The lyrics use the metaphor of a snake to represent the deceitful and manipulative nature of the person who betrayed the singer. the last two singles you guys have released were unlike anything you have ever released, it's different but in a good way. i wasn't expecting this to be so damn good. this new halflives is weird but i somehow love it.

just keep on creating whatever you want. you will lose fans in this journey but you will also gain fans. you are artists, it's normal wanting to experiment with new sounds. remember you're not entitled to a certain sound.

On occasion this song will play in the back of my mind, It's wicked and spoopy and I love it!

Having read a few of the comments we just wanna say that you hopefully don’t listen to people saying “this isn’t halflives”. No one but you knows who halflives is and you have every right to be making the music you want to make! We for once absolutely dig this sound just as much as the old one, maybe even a little more. If you wanna stick with this do so, if not don’t. Your decision🖤
