Hallucinogen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

'I believe with the advent of acid. We discovered new ways to think and it has to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people are so afraid of it? What is it about it that scares people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they are afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control.'

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Hallucinogen's "L.S.D" speak to the idea that the drug LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) has the potential to open up new ways of thinking and perceiving reality that are not accessible through mundane consciousness. The singer acknowledges that people are often deeply afraid of LSD, and suggests that this fear is rooted in the possibility that the drug could reveal aspects of reality that are unknown and potentially threatening to those in power. By exploring these hidden dimensions of reality, LSD users become "a little out of [the controllers'] control," and thus pose a threat to the status quo.

Psychedelics are the reason why i didn’t take my life when i was at my end. I was stripped of my ego and saw the beauty of life and interconnectivity and even though i still battle anxiety and depression, I’m doing better everyday and will never think in such a self destructive way again.

Psychedelic’s definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it’s just so hard to source here

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself
This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."

I first heard this in December 1994 when Paul Oaknefolds Goa Mix aired on The Essential Mix on Radio 1. It utterly enthralled me then and I am still as enthralled by it now as I was nearly 26 years ago. Nothing on this earth sounds like this. This was a golden era.

@blackburnparty

Me to and still have the tape and original recording that was put on CD

@bigmonk802

I first heard it in 2001, downloaded off kazaa or Morpheus or whatever I was using at the time. I went through a list of techno artists and of all of them I picked hallucinogen because it sounded the trippiest, and boy did I pick the right one. I'm from Midwest USA so for a long time I was the only one I knew listening to hallucinogen and shpongle.
