Don't Ask
Hamed Nikpay Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Hamed Nikpay's "Don't Ask (mapors)" convey the agony of unrequited love. The singer urges his beloved not to ask about his broken heart and to not to mention wine and goblet, as it reminds him of her. He then asks her to peer into his eyes, which reflect the pain he feels. The lyrics refer to how love, represented as a mighty army, has overthrown the singer's world and captured his soul. The singer then beseeches his beloved not to ask about his situation, as it would be too difficult to express the torment that he is experiencing.
The song draws significant influence from Persian poetry, particularly the works of the legendary poet Rumi. The lyrics contain references to Rumi's poetry, which makes the song fascinating for lovers of Persian literature. It highlights how the theme of unrequited love is a recurrent theme in Persian poetry. The lyrics also touch upon the metaphor of love as a burning flame, which is again a common theme in Persian poetry. It touches upon how love is beautiful and alluring but can also be painful and destructive.
Hamed's "Don't Ask (mapors)" is a beautiful expression of the paradoxical nature of love, which brings immense happiness and agony. By drawing inspiration from Persian poetry, Hamed sheds light on how love and pain are interwoven into the fabric of human existence. The song's lyrical beauty and depth make it a masterpiece that is worth listening to not only by fans of Persian music but also by anyone who appreciates engaging and thought-provoking music.
