Sweat it out, sweat it out till it doesn't burn
In the dark, in the dark it can hear when I breathe
Now it's closing in on me
It's getting louder now, it's getting louder now
Don't make another sound (I can feel it coming to life)
It's getting closer now, it's getting closer now
I can feel it coming to life
I can feel it coming
Take me to my grave, save me
(I can feel it coming to life)
Chain me to my cage, save me
(I can feel it coming to life)
Trying to feel, trying to heal, trying to kill the disease
Picking flesh, picking bone from between my teeth
No sleep, no sleep when you run with the beasts
(No sleep, no sleep)
Now they're closing in on me
It's getting louder now, it's getting louder now
Don't make another sound (I can feel it coming to life)
It's getting closer now, it's getting closer now
Don't let it take me out (I can feel it coming to life)
Take me to my grave, save me
I can feel it coming to life
Chain me to my cage, save me
I can feel it coming to life
I can feel it coming to life
I can feel it coming to life
It's killing me, killing me, killing me, killing me, killing me
It's killing me slow, killing me slow
It's killing me, killing me, killing me, killing me, killing me
It's killing me slow, killing me slow
It's killing me, killing me, killing me, killing me, killing me
It's killing me slow, killing me slow
Take me to my grave, save me
I can feel it coming to life
Chain me to my cage, save me
I can feel it coming to life
(From the inside out)
I can feel it coming to life
(From the inside out)
I can feel it coming to life
I can feel it coming to life
Yeah, I can feel it coming to life
The lyrics to "Monster" by Hands Like Houses depict a sense of being trapped and overwhelmed by one's own inner demons. The theme centers around the feeling of being chased and consumed by a personal struggle or darkness. The repeated lines "digging down in the dirt" and "picking flesh, picking bone from between my teeth" symbolize a relentless search for resolution and relief from this internal battle.
The opening lines suggest an attempt to push through the pain and discomfort, to keep working and sweating until it no longer burns. However, the darkness, represented as the monster, becomes more audible and closer, indicating that it is gaining power and control over the singer. The phrase "closing in on me" emphasizes the impending threat and the feeling of being trapped and suffocated.
As the song progresses, the intensity builds, mirroring the increasing presence of the monster. The repeated lines "take me to my grave, save me" and "chain me to my cage, save me" convey a desperation for release and salvation from this torment. The repetition of "I can feel it coming to life" signifies the growing strength and influence of the monster, with the singer acknowledging that it is slowly killing them.
Overall, "Monster" by Hands Like Houses explores the internal struggle faced by individuals, highlighting the feeling of being pursued and devoured by personal demons. The lyrics capture the desperation for escape from this emotional burden and the profound impact it has on the person's well-being.

It might be that I haven't been listening to them for their whole ride, but I love this just as much as their older music. I dont care if they are generic or unique, if it makes good sounds, it's good to me.
