Threaded together
In a way we are all suspended
Bound going nowhere
Wake up walk on the wires
Defeat and define wake up
Evolve and escape unravel, unmake yourself
We speak in tongues
And we walk on the wires between
We don't belong here
We are the sleeping sickness
The dancing dreams we don't belong here
We're invaders from the inside
We're survivors in silver skin
Shapeless, we move
Unwinding the wires between
We don't belong here
So we'll follow, follow down
Each knotless fathom to the end
No more hollow, hollow sounds
Of echoes, echoes in our heads
Wake up walk on the wires
Connect and combine wake up
React and reshape unravel, unmake yourself
We speak in tongues
And we walk on the wires between
We don't belong here
We are the sleeping sickness
The dancing dreams we don't belong here
We're invaders from the inside
We're survivors in silver skin
Shapeless, we move
Unwinding the wires between
We don't belong here
It's been a long, long night
And we're still learning how to survive
Will you walk with me a while
And see a world with brand new eyes?
We see the sights
We're fighting for our lives
Will you run, will you run, will you run?
In a way we are all connected
Threaded together
In a way we are all suspended
We speak in tongues
And we walk on the wires between
We don't belong here
We are the sleeping sickness
The dancing dreams we don't belong here
We're invaders from the inside
We're survivors in silver skin
Shapeless, we move
Unwinding the wires between
We don't belong here
The song "Revive" by Hands Like Houses explores themes of interconnectedness, identity, and the struggle to find a sense of belonging. The lyrics suggest that despite feeling bound and suspended in life, we are all connected to one another in some way. We are threaded together, implying that there are invisible ties that link us all. However, there is a sense of aimlessness and stagnation, as we are bound but going nowhere. This could represent the feeling of being stuck in a monotonous or unfulfilling existence.
The chorus introduces the idea of speaking in tongues and walking on wires between realms. This could symbolize a sense of disconnection from the world and a feeling of not belonging. The lyrics describe the self as a sleeping sickness, suggesting a state of unawareness or being disconnected from one's true self. The dancing dreams can be seen as our aspirations and desires that are not aligned with our current reality. The reference to invaders from the inside and survivors in silver skin suggests a struggle within oneself, trying to navigate through life while feeling out of place.
The song also touches on the idea of transformation and self-discovery. Lines like "unravel, unmake yourself" and "react and reshape" imply the need to break free from societal constraints and redefine oneself. The lyrics express a desire to wake up and evolve, suggesting a longing for personal growth and finding a sense of purpose.
Overall, "Revive" portrays a search for identity, a longing to be connected, and a yearning to break free from the limitations that hold us back.
