Hangnail Lyrics

Open ears await a still and quiet voice
Not with the timing that I have
Ready to make any change required of me
When I can't see where this uncharted life of mine is going
All I ask is carry me
And when I can't see past the cloudy skies that are looming up ahead
Here with the world surrounding me
Enduring everyday is more than I can do
I lack the patience that it takes
So I am standing on the promise made to me
When I can't see where this uncharted life of mine is going
All I ask is carry me
And when I can't see past the cloudy skies that are looming up ahead
Hold my hand and carry me
Hangnail's song "Carry Me" is a poignant portrayal of a person's struggle with uncertainty and lack of control in their life. The lyrics communicate a sense of vulnerability and desperation, as the singer admits that they lack the patience and strength to endure alone. The opening line "I'll step aside this time around" suggests a willingness to surrender control and seek guidance from a higher power or trusted source, as the singer awaits a "still and quiet voice" to offer direction.
The chorus, with its repeated plea to "carry me" and "hold my hand," conveys a deep need for support and reassurance. The singer confesses that sometimes they "can't see where this uncharted life of mine is going," and the looming clouds of uncertainty ahead are overwhelming. The repeated use of "carry me" reinforces the idea of vulnerability and dependence, as the singer entrusts themselves to someone they see as stronger and wiser than themselves.
The final verse highlights the difficulty of everyday life, particularly for those who struggle with patience and perseverance. However, the singer finds hope and assurance in a promise made to them, which suggests a deep faith and trust in a higher power. The song ends on a note of surrender and trust, as the singer entrusts themselves to the one who can "carry me."
Overall, "Carry Me" is a moving and vulnerable portrayal of human weakness and dependence. It highlights the need for support and guidance, particularly in times of uncertainty and difficulty, and speaks to the deep human yearning for something greater than oneself.
