Hank Mobley is one of the saddest stories in jazz. He struggled with heroin addiction for most of his career and was forced to retire in the mid-1970s, due to lung problems. He then became homeless in his later years and struggled to stay in touch with his fellow musicians.

Reminds of me Dave Brubeck's music - cool jazz. Light, breezy and a real treat for a lazy day.

@parker550

His biography/discography is well worth the time to read and gather up some of his more esoteric recordings, HE is in my opinion the most melodic improvisor of the Blue Note era.... Sadly dying a lonesome under valued player, of which there were many eg, Ike Quebec's 'Blue & Sentimental' recording also a must have, but Hank really stood out, his solo recordings along with those played with nearly all notables of the time, genius jazz giants..... Lee Morgan especially... I'll shut up😞🎷👍

So melodic and such a smooth gorgeous tone, love this solo!

These are maybe my 4 favorite jazz musicians for their respective instruments... Unbelievably enjoyable... whenever I hear some music I don't like and it upsets me, I pull out this album to remind myself of the wonders of jazz. So purifying. Such joy.
