Woo
Sometimes I walk a little faster
In the school hallway
Just to get next to you
Some days I spend a little extra
Time in the morning
Guess you don't notice
Guess you don't need this
Sad you're not seein' what you're missin'
On the outside shyin' away
On the inside dyin' to say
I'm unusual
Not so typical
Way too smart to be waiting around
Tai chi practices
Snowboard champion
I could fix the flat on your car
I might even be a rock star
I might even be a rock star
I might even be a rock star
Sometimes I wish when the phone rings
That it would be you
Saying let's hang out
Then you confess
That there's something special between us
Why don't we find out
You don't even know me
Guess you don't need me
Why you're not seein' what you're missin'
On the outside shyin' away
On the inside dyin' to say
I'm unusual
Not so typical
Way too smart to be waiting around
Tai chi practices
Snowboard champion
I could fix the flat on your car
I might even be a
Rock star
If you only knew the real me
I might even be a rock star
I'm telling you that we are meant to be
Now wouldn't it be nice if you could see
That I really am a rock star
Yeah, yeah,
Woo
Yeah I really am a rock star
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ha ha a rock star
I'm unusual
Not so typical
Way too smart to be waiting around
Tai chi practices
Snowboard champion
I could fix the flat on your car
Rocking it where ever we are
Yeah yeah yeah
Girl I really am a ro
Girl I really am a rock star
(Yeah I really am a rock star)
I am a rock star
Whoa whoa whoa
Good night everybody
The song “Rockstar” by Hannah Montana is a teenage love song about a girl who is infatuated with a boy in her school. She is attracted to him and tries to get his attention by walking faster in the school hallway just to be next to him, or spending a longer time in the morning to look good. She is frustrated that he does not notice her and seems to be missing out on the opportunity of getting to know her. The lyrics suggest that she is unique, talented and special, implying that what he would be missing out on is not just any normal girl, but someone truly exceptional. The girl compares herself to a rockstar, indicating her confidence in her own abilities and potential. She is dying to tell him how she feels and hopes that someday he will notice and reciprocate her feelings.
The song is catchy and upbeat, with a pop-rock feel to it. It speaks to the experience of many teenagers, who go through the angst of unrequited love and self-doubt. The lyrics use a variety of techniques to convey the message, such as repetition, metaphor, and imagery. The catchy tune and relatable lyrics made “Rockstar” a hit when it was released in 2007 as part of the soundtrack of the popular Disney Channel TV show “Hannah Montana”.
