Kinderen Aan De Macht
Hans De Booij Lyrics

met pantsers van marsepein
de oorlog wordt opgegeten
dat moet heel lekker zijn
kinderen geniaal
onbesuisde kracht maakt o zo zacht
geef de kinderen het commando
in alle, alle landen
wie had er zoiets nu verwacht
de kinderen aan de macht
geef de kinderen het commando
ze berekenen niet wat ze doen
de wereld hoort in kinderhanden
in alle, alle landen
wie had er zo iets nu verwacht
de kinderen aan de macht ... ooh
geef de kinderen het commando
ze berekenen niet wat ze doen
de wereld hoort in kinderhanden
in alle, alle landen
wie had er zoiets nu verwacht
de kinderen aan de macht
geef de kinderen het commando
ze berekenen niet wat ze doen
de wereld hoort in kinderhanden
in alle, alle landen
wie had er zoiets nu verwacht
de kinderen aan de macht
The lyrics to Hans de Booij's song "Kinderen Aan De Macht" speak of an army of teddy bears with armor made of marsepein, waging a war that is eventually consumed, symbolizing the surreal and imaginative world of children. The song notes that children are geniuses, as there is no good or bad, no money, and no price in their world. Instead of oppression, there is the promise of vanilla ice cream for life, always ready to surprise. The lyrics highlight the idea that the world should belong to the children and they should be given control over it, as they do not calculate or evaluate their actions as adults do, and everything is "ooh" and "ahh."
The song's message is that children possess a unique and genuine way of looking at the world, free from preconceptions, biases, and ego, and that they should be allowed to take control of it. The lyrics speak of anarchism, chaos, and the power of being untamed, contrasting it with the predictability and rigidity of adult life. The final words, "give the children command," seem to emphasize the need to entrust the world to the innovative and free-spirited nature of the next generation.
