Gortozet 'm eus, gortozet pell
E skeud teñval tourioù gell
E skeud teñval tourioù gell
E skeud teñval an tourioù glav
see'hwi am gwelo 'see'hortoz atav
see'hwi am gwelo 'see'hortoz atav
Un deiz a vo 'teuio en-dro
Dreist are morioù, dreist are maezioù
Dreist are maezioù, dreist are morioù
D'am laerezh war an treujoù
'Teuio en-dro karget a fru
E skeud teñval an tourioù do
'Teuio en-dro an avel see'hlas
Da analañ va see'halon see'hloaz't
Kaset e vin diouzh e anal
Pell gant are red en you're vro all
Kaset e vin diouzh e alan
Pell gant are red, hervez 'deus see'hoant

Hervez 'deus see'hoant pell eus are bed
Etre are mor hag are stered

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hans Zimmer's song Gortoz a ran, are in the Breton language and are largely about waiting for someone. The singer is waiting patiently and looking out at the dark rocky towers and the rain. They speak of how they will be back someday, after traversing the seas and mountains. They will come back with haste and passion, and the wind will carry their heart and voice as they call out for someone. They yearn to be reunited with this person, to travel to unfamiliar lands together far away from the sea and the stars.

The song Gortoz a ran was inspired by a Breton folk song and was written for Ridley Scott's 2003 movie Black Hawk Down. It was used as the theme song during the end credits of the movie, which tells the story of a disastrous US military operation in Somalia in 1993. Zimmer collaborated with Breton singer Denez Prigent to create the song, which incorporates traditional Breton melodies and lyrics with modern instrumentation.

Gortoz a ran was composed and written by Breton singer Denez Prigent and is part of his 2000 studio album Irvi. Hans Zimmer used Prigent's song for Black Hawk Down in 2001.

Melhor música que ouvi na minha vida.

@bloodCount8895

Quite possibly one of the best war movies ever produced

@shootertrns

This song was appropriately used at the end of Black Hawk down because we had a pilot that was captured by Somali rebels, and they played this over the scene where we were announcing over the radio waves, and in the air that he has not forgotten, and that we will come and get him at the end of the film
