Lof flesh lay nof ne

Ham de num um dass
La um de flavne
Shom de nomm
Ma-lun des dwondi, dwwoondi

Alas sharum do koos
Shaley koot-tum

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Now We Are Free" are a combination of a few different languages, including Latin and an invented language chosen to match the atmosphere of the film 'Gladiator.' The first two lines are partially in Latin and partially in the invented language, Anol shalom, Anol sheh ley konnud de ne um translates into "A new peace, a new era begins." Flavum nom de leesh is in Latin, and it means "A harvest of peace." This is followed by Ham de nam um das, meaning "A feast for the people." La um de Flavne translates to "The people's voice rises."

The second verse starts with We de ze zu bu and continues with a mix of invented and real languages. We de so a are you means "To be or not to be." Un va-a pesh a lay is from the invented language and is meant to sound like "one more song." Un di-I lay na day is Anol, and it means "I wish you peace." The third and fourth lines are again in the Anol language, which roughly translates to, "A love without end." The final line of the verse, Mee di nu ku, is also Anol and means, "From darkness to light."

The final section of the song repeats some of the earlier lines, with slight variations. There is a refrain of "la la da pa da le na da na," which is not in any recognizable language. The final lines of the song are Shom de nomm, Ma-lun des dwondi, dwwoondi, Alas sharum do koos, Shaley koot-tum. These are again in the invented language and are meant to sound like a kind of chant, though they do not have a specific meaning.
