Admiral watches as ship leaves dunkirk expecting the worse. Sees somthing in the distance, general sees as well comes up with benoculars and hands them to the admiral.

'What do you see?' the general asks.

Admiral lowers benoculars. 'Home'

Army and navy see little ships comming in and cheer.

Me, cry's my eyes out.

That transition at 4:04... HOLY CRAP THAT IS EPIC!!! Chills and goosebumps at the same time. What are you doing to me Hans Zimmer?!?! I love it!

Floyd Glenn

Aravind Kumar - yes. Totally agree. Wallfisch (and other modern classical composers) are great at all these types of sound essays and spot-on emotional descriptives - telling the story as it was.

Mee too bro!!!

Dunkirk is a perfect example of how harmoniously film editing, sound design and the score can work together to create a visceral sense of tension, dread and finally emotional catharsis.

Doxazo

Sanchit Varma, all the more without any significant dialogue

i cried during this scene. they weren't doing it for their country or their army. those fishermen were fathers risking their lives to bring their sons back from the war. that's why it was so hard for the old man to turn the boat around. i think that paternal love was the core of the entire rescue mission and Nolan and ZImmer invoked that flawlessly and subtly in this one scene

Evan Green

Don't forget rylance's son had already died

tymd130 it was a beautiful scene, just what you expect from Nolan. I smiled so wide when 4:05 hit

Floyd Glenn

GenericYoutubeNameHD - as did I.

Scott Mairs

They were very much doing for their country, actually.
