Im German, I have two bothers, one slightly bigger than the other, both totally into fitness. They did this CONSTANTLY in the 80s and I can't even hear it now without thinking of them flexing around the house.

Zach

Do they enter every room saying
“We are going to pump clap you up”

Sarah The Terminator

I think this must have been the very first one of these sketches. The audience didn't seem too terribly thrilled with it. However, it certainly caught on and became a classic.

Yes. They hadn't perfected their signature lines and they didn't do the over-the-top flexing while making the faces. 💪😲

"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it"

Wikipedia: "Development: The idea for the characters of Hans and Franz came in 1987 in a Des Moines, Iowa, hotel room while Nealon was watching an Arnold Schwarzenegger television interview during Nealon's and Carvey's first comedy tour. The first sketch in which the characters appear occurred during the season premiere of the 13th season." That's this one.
