Their only album, Welcome to Happyland, was released August 25, 1998, on the Polydor Australia label. They also released the track "Tintarella di Luna" on the Looking for Alibrandi soundtrack in 2000.
"Don't You Know Who I Am?", the single from Welcome to Happyland, came in at #28 in Triple J's 1998 Hottest 100 music poll, while "Hello!" also made it in at #71. "Hello!" was originally going to be released on Regurgitator's album Unit but apparently did not fit with the rest of the album's content.
Happyland toured Australia as part of the 1999 Big Day Out music festival, performing at shows on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. In their live shows, the band members dressed in fluffy animal costumes.
Quan mentioned in a 2001 interview in the Daily Telegraph that Happyland were working on another release (backed up by a comment made by Quan on Live.com.au). However, they have both since stated that this is unlikely, as they have since split up, but remain good friends; with Janet saying in 2004, "A Happyland comeback? (laughs) Is it was just the one off thing, just a bit of fun when we had time off from our respective bands."
Chicken
Happyland Lyrics

Took her out the back to go and clean her.
Now she's missing that beautiful white chicken
and I'm wishing for my beautiful white chicken.
Oh yeah
Where has my chicken gone?
Please send my sweetheart home.
Used to have a chicken I could call my own
then she went and left me hanging on the phone.
Used to cry for nights and then I'd wish her home.
I'm so alone.
Where has my chicken gone?
She's been away for so long.
Where has my chicken gone?
Now things are going wrong.
Used to have a chicken I could call my own.
Now I'm well aware of how my heart may roam.
Used to think that nothing would come between our love
now there's an oven glove.
Where has my chicken gone?
She's been away for so long.
Where has
Where has
Where has she gone?
The song Chicken by Happyland is a playful and humorous take on a broken relationship between the singer and their pet chicken. The lyrics suggest that the chicken was taken away by someone and now the singer is left missing their white chicken. The first verse talks about how the chicken was taken away to be cleaned and ends with the singer wishing for their chicken to return. The second verse talks about how the singer used to have a chicken they could call their own, but it left them hanging and they would cry and wish for it to come back. The singer is now alone and things are going wrong, they used to think that nothing would come between their love but now there's an oven glove.
Overall, the song is a lighthearted and fun way of discussing heartbreak and the loss of a loved one, even if that loved one happens to be a pet chicken. The playful melody and catchy chorus make it a memorable song that brings a smile to the listener's face.
