And now, the end is near
As I approach the end of my life's journey

And so I face the final curtain
I am ready to face the end of my life with dignity

I planned each charted course
I carefully mapped out my path in life

Each careful step along the byway
I took each step deliberately and with care

But more, much more than this
But I did not just follow a predetermined path

I did it my way
I lived my life according to my own rules

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
There were times when I faced challenges

When I bit off more than I could chew
When I took on more than I could handle

But through it all, when there was doubt
But despite any uncertainty or fear I faced

I ate it up and spit it out
I took on those challenges and emerged victorious

I faced it all and I stood tall
I faced all my challenges head-on and without fear

And did it my way
And I tackled everything on my own terms

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I have experienced all the emotions of life

Had my fill, my share of losing
I have also experienced losses and disappointment

And now, as tears subside
But now as I near the end of my life

I find it all so amusing
I find it all rather funny

To think I did all that
To think about all that I have accomplished

And may I say, not in a shy way
And let me state it boldly

"Oh no, oh no not me
"I did it my way"

For what is a man, what has he got?
When you think about a person's life and legacy

If not himself, then he has naught
If he has not lived his life on his own terms, what has he really accomplished?

To say the things he truly feels
It is important to be honest about one's thoughts and feelings

And not the words of one who kneels
Instead of the opinions of others who are willing to give up control

The record shows I took the blows
The documentation of my life shows the difficulties I faced

And did it my way
But ultimately, I tackled everything on my own terms
