Hard-Fi achieved chart success with their third single, "Hard to Beat" and then followed by other successful singles such as "Cash Machine" and "Living for the Weekend", which all reached top 15 in the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album Stars of CCTV was released on 4 July 2005, and although receiving critical acclaim (NME called it album of the year and was nominated for the Mercury Prize and two BRIT Awards, Best British Group and Best British Rock Act), it didn't reach #1 in the UK albums chart until six months later on 22 January 2006. It originally peaked at number 6. The band's second album, Once Upon a Time in the West, was released on 3 September 2007 and reached number 1 in its first week.
They are generally considered part of the indie rock scene, alongside bands such as Franz Ferdinand and have often been compared to a modern version of The Clash.
Hard-Fi's latest album, 'Killer Sounds' was released on 22 August 2011, and has produced 3 singles, 'Good for Nothing', 'Fire in the House' and the anthemic 'Bring It On' which also featured in the game Football Manager 2012. The band also recorded the track 'Like a Drug' for the hugely popular Twilight - Breaking Dawn film, and following demands from fans finally released it as a single on iTunes on 16 December 2011.
Watch Me Fall Apart

You had your chance but moved too slow
Now look around this lonely town
Where every smiling face just brings you down
Just brings you down
You let it slip, so get a grip
There's no one else to blame for this
Where every smiling face just brings you down
Just brings you down
Stick around and watch me fall apart
Watch me lose the game that I made up
Stick around whilst I default the loan
Watch me reap the pain that I have sown
I wanted all, all I could take
I wanted everything my way
Thought I can't lose, thought I was smart
But then that girl turned 'round and broke my heart
And broke my heart
Stick around and watch me fall apart
Watch me lose the game that I made up
Stick around whilst I default the loan
Watch me reap the pain that I have sown
Stick around and watch me fall apart
Watch me fall apart, watch me fall apart
Stick around whilst I default the loan
Watch me reap the pain that I have sown
The song "Watch Me Fall Apart" by Hard-Fi is a melancholic story about a protagonist who had it all but lost everything due to his own mistakes. The opening lines of the song are direct and do not hold back, as the singer addresses the listener as a "dumb ass fool" who lost everything due to moving too slow. The lyrics suggest that the singer had some opportunities but missed them, and now he is left in a town where every smiling face brings him down. The second verse repeats the same theme, highlighting that there is no one else to blame but the singer for his current situation.
The chorus of the song is where the singer lets go and expresses his pain and vulnerability. He asks the listener to stick around and watch him fall apart, to witness him lose the game that he made up. The loan he refers to is probably a metaphor for a goal he was trying to achieve, but now he is not able to pay back what he owes. The singer is honest about the situation he is in, and he knows he has only himself to blame for it. In the final verse, he talks about how he wanted everything his way and thought he couldn't lose, but a girl broke his heart. It appears that the heartbreak was the tipping point that led to his downfall.
Overall, the lyrics of the song "Watch Me Fall Apart" by Hard-Fi are a warning about the consequences of our actions. The singer speaks from his own experience, highlighting that no one can escape the consequences of their choices. It is a sincere and emotionally charged song that is relatable to anyone who has faced challenges and fallen from grace.
