Had Enough
Harem Scarem Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Hess/Lesperance)
Love's a long and twisted road
And I know I've walked it before
It takes me nowhere
Almost every time
And leaves me wondering
When will I find
A true love in perfect harmony
When will I learn
That I've got to believe
On my own now
I've come to learn
The times of heartache
>From bridges burned
Now there's still one thing
I want to know
Will I find peace of mind
If I'm alone
And on it goes
I'm going around and around
God only knows
If I'm ever coming down
When I've had enough
The world kicks me around
One more time I've had enough
When I've had enough
I'll let out all the feelings

I can't hide
I've had enough for awhile

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Harem Scarem's song Had Enough set the tone for a reflective, introspective ballad about the difficulties of love and relationships. The singer acknowledges that he has walked this "long and twisted road" before, but almost every time, love takes him "nowhere" and leaves him feeling uncertain about whether he will ever find a "true love in perfect harmony." He wonders when he will learn that he has to believe in himself to find love, rather than relying on external factors to bring him happiness.

The second verse continues the theme of personal growth, with the singer reflecting on his past heartaches and the bridges he has burned. He has come to learn that he needs to rely on himself and his own experiences to move forward, rather than depending on others to guide him. Yet, despite his growth and self-reflection, he still wonders if he will ever find peace of mind if he is alone. The chorus offers a glimmer of hope, with the singer vowing to let out all his feelings when he's had enough.

Overall, the lyrics of Had Enough offer a powerful message about the importance of self-discovery and self-belief in finding happiness and love.

Tuned down half a step, it's basically six note groupings starting with 4-5-6-5-4 on the A string, then down to 6-5-4-5-6 on the E string. Repeat. Jump to 5-7-9. Etc. There's more to it than that, but that's how it starts.
