1) Harem Scarem is a Rock band hailing from Ontario, Canada, formed in 1987. They renamed themselves Rubber in 1999 and released two albums under that name. In 2001, they went back to the Harem Scarem name. In the Summer of 2007 they announced they "will officially break-up after one more studio album." They would reform in 2013 and has released four more albums since then.

2) Harem Scarem emerged from Melbourne's mid-80's indie scene, but, it could be argued, were closer in sound to classic Australian blues-rock from a decade before (Dingoes, Coloured Balls, Chain, Rose Tattoo etc.). Their sound was infused with a heady mix of punk spirit and Stax soul that also made them contemporaries of the likes of The Gun Club and the Beasts Of Bourbon.

Harem Scarem first appeared on the Melbourne Psychobilly compilation “Asleep at the Wheel”. They soon developed (via the “Dogman” EP and some key line-up changes) into a powerhouse live act, where Christopher Marshall's extraordinary, passionate vocals combined with Charlie Marshall's stonesy guitar.

With the classic line-up of the Marshall brothers, Barry Palmer (guitar), Glen Sheldon (bass), Peter Jones (drums) and Chris Wilson (harmonica & sax), the band went into the studio with producer John Archer (Hunters & Collectors) and emerged with this, their masterful 1986 album: Pilgrim's Progress (now re-issued by Aztec Music http://www.aztecmusic.net/)

Harem Scarem hail from our neighbors to the North. Form by two guys lead singer Harry Hess and guitarist Pete Lesperance when the band Blind Vengeance split up. They are still going today. Released their 15th studio album in 2020 and have since hinted that they are starting work on their 16th studio album. I've really liked their music over the years.

Everything you said positive with this band lands with me....great and underrated. I saw these guys a few times here in my hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada in the early nineties and they were even better and more fun live. Another fave of mine off this album is Saviors Never Cry and an awesome ballad called If There Was A Time..but yeah they are still making great music to this day

Something to check out is the band Adriangale. Maybe try their song Still Burning or Faith. It is straight up 80s hard rock made 20 years later

By late 1987 I'd grown tired of melodic rock / AOR. The scene was saturated and it was difficult to pick out much individuality when there were a couple of hundred hard rock bands mixing in the pop hooks.
Jump to the early 2000s and I start to hear about some of the bands I'd missed out on, and Harem Scarem were a band I immediately gravitated towards. Sure, they had some Queen, Extreme, Leppard, Winger, Talisman elements but the songs had depth and range, and Lesperance was a stellar player in that Nuno / Vito bracket.

I remember this but haven't seen or heard it for eons. I think it's still decent...however, and perhaps unfortunately, what stands out for me about this band are two things that have absolutely nothing to do with their music: 1) I always thought the S within the O in their logo lent itself to Harem O'Scarem - it's the New Wave of Irish Heavy Metal!; 2) at the time I was suspect about the album title of Mood Swings ("What could they possibly know about PMS???" was the question in early 90's....present day the question is, "What could they possibly know about menopause???"). In retrospect, unless the title was a stab at girlfriends/wives, than it was surely a mental health statement.

Best Song Harem Scarem - Had Enough, Best Album - Mood Swings, They have like 15 albums but the first 2 only matter other then a few random goodies of song in whole. Most of the other albums sound like a weird mix up 90's rock as they seemingly tried to transition with the times, with 80's riffs put in sometime. It's a weird mix. They have tons of Videos, and they are from Oshawa, ON Canada.Their claim to fame was 8 songs released from their fist album to a tv special Degrassi High: School's Out. Harry Hess (singer) had a band before this called Blind Vengeance and they are terrible. They are way more poppy with keys. Harry Hess also has a band called First Signal which kind of sounds like contemporary church music with solos mixed that weirdly again stuck in the 90's vibe that happened with Harem Scarem. Pete Lesperance (guitar) had a band before Harem Scarem called Minotar in 1987, they were a thrash band pretty much in the true sense.
