Every once in a while there's someone whose life is like a comet flashin' across the sky
Occasionally, there are individuals whose existence is as fleeting as a comet shooting across the sky

Men of great talent with things to tell us
Extremely gifted individuals who have valuable insights to share

And it seems like all too soon those kinds seem to die
Sadly, it appears that such people pass away much too quickly

Now Stephen Foster was one of these gifted people
Stephen Foster was among these remarkable individuals

He's down to earth songs turned the whole world on
His simple, relatable songs resonated with people all over the globe

But then like most people who are sent here on a mission
However, like many people who are believed to have a special purpose in life

All too soon young Stephen was gone
Stephen's life was cut short far too soon

A little more time a little more time oh the songs he might have wrote
If only he had more time, he may have written even more beautiful songs

Tender words and pretty notes with only a little more time
With a slight extension of time, he could have composed even more heartwarming lyrics and melodies

Another man I feel was sent here on a mission was John F Kennedy
I also believe that John F Kennedy was meant to fulfill a significant purpose

A man loved and respected by I guess just about everyone
A man who was adored and esteemed by almost everyone

And I suppose we were all guilty of takin' him for granted
I believe we all failed to fully appreciate him while he was alive

His love for humanity and the many fine things that he done
His compassion for his fellow humans, as well as the many positive effects of his actions

Now he wanted this to be a better world but all too soon this great man died
He had a strong desire to make the world a better place, but he was taken from us far too soon

And as we gathered around our radios that afternoon
As we gathered in front of our radios on that fateful day

The whole world stopped a little while and it cried
The entire world momentarily ground to a halt and mourned

A little more time a little more time so much to do so little done
If only he had more time, he could have accomplished so much more

But the victory's he might have won with only a little more time
He could have achieved even more significant triumphs if he only had a little more time

And looking back down the pages of history
Reflecting on the past through the lens of history

The greatest influence for good there ever was Jesus
The most remarkable force for positive change that ever existed, Jesus

And his spite of all the obstacles in his path
Despite facing immense challenges and adversity

Look at the legacy of hope that you gave us
Consider the inspiring legacy of hope that he left behind

And as I look around me at those who live by his teachings
Observing those who follow his teachings

And bless the day of his birth
And viewing his birth as a blessing

I can't help but feel this would be a whole lot better world
I cannot avoid the belief that the world would be far better off

If he could have spent a little more time on this earth
If he had just a bit more time to continue his work and teachings

Peace on earth might really be today if only he had just had a little more time
Perhaps we could achieve peace on earth today if he only had a brief extension of his time here on this planet
