So Real
Harry Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(v1)
It's like someone who is dead who hasn't even been born
It's like someone who has everything and feels nothing
It's like not knowing where you stand when your laying on the ground
It's like being unfaithful to someone you just don't have faith in
Would you come round for t if i gave you your Q? Would you?

(chorus)
Wouldn't it be so nice to feel something so real you wouldn't have to live at all

(v2)
It's knowing what's in your hand yet having no arm
It's dealing with dices you know someone else should be dealing
It's making a living on the lives you are stealing
And having control on the things you are feeling
Would you come round for T if I gave you your Q, Would you?

(chorus)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Harry's song "So Real" explore the theme of feeling disconnected and empty. The opening lines "It's like someone who is dead who hasn't even been born / It's like someone who has everything and feels nothing" sets the tone for the rest of the song, where the singer describes different scenarios that evoke a sense of emptiness and lack of fulfillment. The line "It's like not knowing where you stand when your laying on the ground" paints a picture of feeling lost and disoriented even in a state of vulnerability, while "It's like being unfaithful to someone you just don't have faith in" speaks to the concept of going through the motions but not really feeling a true connection.

The chorus "Wouldn't it be so nice to feel something so real you wouldn't have to live at all" is a poignant reflection on the yearning for something genuine and authentic that would make life worth living. The second verse continues to explore this theme, with lines such as "It's knowing what's in your hand yet having no arm" and "It's making a living on the lives you are stealing / And having control on the things you are feeling". These metaphors convey a sense of disempowerment and detachment, and make the listener contemplate what it truly means to feel alive and present in the world.

I'm from Mexico City, I lived in England when I was 19 and 20, back in 2002 and this song realy reminds me of my time there. Lovely country and brilliant people. I'll die with this song on my mind.
